Kim Kardashian's company -- SKIMS-- is being sued by a woman who says their body tape product severely damaged her skin.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the person claims they purchased a 'Skims' body tape, and the product caused injuries bad enough that she needed to seek medical attention.
In the filing, the woman -- Noelle Smith -- says the body tape was "negligently and carelessly" designed and is "dangerous and unsafe for its intended use." Although the person doesn't describe the injuries in great detail, she says the company should be "reasonable careful companies seek to design body tape that don't rip off the user's skin." Ouch!
Adding, the tape was "carelessly designed using inadequate materials and compounds." And, the 'defective condition made the body tape dangerous and unsafe for its intended use."
Customer Claims 'Skims' Body Tape Ripped Off Skin During Use
After using the tape, the person says they were forced to get help from a doctor and is now suing for "incurred expenses for medical care."
Interestingly, Kim Kardashian is not named personally in the lawsuit -- we are guessing it is because she doesn't personally manage the manufacturing of the products. But, we do know that Kardashian takes these things very seriously and will probably be looking into this incident.
"When manufacturers do not make their products safe as is technologically and economically feasible and someone is hurt, they are responsible for the harm," the lawsuit states.
In the end, the person suing the company says she believes the company was well aware of the issue after customers started to complain.
'Skims' Failed To Warn The Public Of 'Dangerous' Situation, Claims Lawsuit
The person "is informed and believes that the (company) failed to warn the public of the dangerous body tape, and instead continued to sell the product to the public." Adding, "After releasing the body tape to the public, the consumers started lodging public complains about the body tape damaging skin."
A simple Google search reveals an article written in Teen Vogue, where a person describes the aftermath of using the product. She says, "I thought a little bit of soap and water would remove the tape easily. Then I read that coconut oil would do the trick, but that didn’t help much either. I stood in my room on the verge of tears for almost an hour slowly removing the painful tape that left my sensitive skin red and bruised. It was not worth it and I promised myself that I wouldn’t do it again."
But, not everyone feels the same way. Another article reads, that Skims body tape is "a breathable, flexible, gentle adhesive cloth strip that is designed to make creating the perfect breast shape super easy for anyone. Basically, your boobs can have a Kim K red-carpet vibe without annoying and unattractive bra straps."
Well, Kim Kardashian never said being beautiful and looking hot was easy!
At this point, Kim K. nor the company hasn't responded to the lawsuit or allegations.
