Brad Pitt's high over the audience liking his cool performance in "Bullet Train" might have just come crashing down. News of Angelina Jolie being the 'Jane Doe' plaintiff in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed against the FBI has made the headlines. The documents that she wants are the ones filed about the verbal altercation and alleged "abuse" on a plane ride, between Pitt, Jolie, and Maddox, who was 15 at the time.
According to various media reports, it seems Brad Pitt feels that the sole reason why Jolie is not letting the matter rest, is to 'hurt' him. Here's all the gossip.
The 2016 Alleged 'Child Abuse' By Brad Pitt
In 2016, the Pitt-Jolie family was returning from a vacation in their private plane. Shortly after the plane took off, Pitt and Jolie had an argument that escalated rather quickly. Maddox tried to intervene and Pitt allegedly "connected with him" in some way, although Pitt specified that he did not hit anyone.
The plane incident was what broke the camel's back, as in the Pitt-Jolie wedding as the "Tomb Raider" star soon filed divorce proceedings. The divorce was granted in 2019, and since then, Jolie has custody of all children, with Brad Pitt having visitation rights.
The battle is still far from resolved, with Pitt suing Jolie for selling her share of their Château Miraval estate, which makes the Miraval wine, to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group, for an undisclosed amount. According to Pitt, Jolie had to take his permission to sell her share and failed to do so, and the lawsuit further alleged that she was damaging the reputation of the wine business by selling her shares to a "stranger."
Clearly, the public debacle of Hollywood's once golden couple is far from over.
'Jane Doe' Is Angelina Jolie?
Recently, a sealed Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed against the FBI showed a “Jane Doe” who was seeking the release of the FBI documents pertaining to the plane incident. At the time of the incident, there was a full FBI inquiry into the alleged "child abuse" by Brad Pitt and the FBI chose not the charge him, after the investigation.
The "Jane Doe" has now been identified as Jolie, and while there has been no statement forthcoming from her side or Pitt's, Jolie's attorney noted that her client was, "seeking such records for years but has been stonewalled and has had to resort to court action to receive needed records.”
The original filing, as reported by NBC, described the plaintiff as a woman and recounted that “her then-husband, and their children, who were all minors at the time, were traveling via private aircraft,” when the “husband allegedly physically and verbally assaulted plaintiff and the children, who have ‘experienced lasting physical and mental trauma as a result of the assault.’"
Sources Say Angelina Jolie Is Out To 'Hurt' Brad Pitt
There are always two sides to a story, but sources close to the case and to Pitt are not sure what Jolie is seeking to find in the report.
NBC reported sources saying, "This report was given to both parties, almost six years ago. We both had it, in its entirety. The final paragraph (...) is very clear and concise about the fact that all parties, all law enforcement agreed on the decision to not press charges. This was not like a close call. They did their investigation as they’re supposed to. And the decision was made with all parties in agreement.”
At the time, Jolie claimed that Pitt grabbed her, shoved her against the plane wall, and poured some beer over her. Later, she also admitted to grabbing him, ostensibly to keep him from hurting Maddox. The news may be new for the public, given that the FBI docs are now in the hands of the media, but Jolie and Pitt have had the reports with them for six years now.
A source close to Pitt, according to People stated, "What are the motivations of a person to take up court time and public resources in filing an anonymous FOIA request for the material they have had for years? There's only one: to inflict the most amount of pain on her ex. There is no benefit to this. It is harmful to the children and the entire family for this to be made public."
Pitt himself admitted, in a 2017 GQ interview that at the time, he did have a problem with alcohol, and that he has quit drinking. He said, "it is a drag to have certain things drug out in public and misconstrued. I worry about it more for my kids, being subjected to it, and their friends getting ideas from it. And of course, it's not done with any kind of delicacy or insight — it's done to sell."
Meanwhile, Jolie recently stated in an interview with The Guardian, "I'm not the kind of person who makes decisions like the decisions I had to make lightly. It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children."
