Hollywood actress Anne Heche is showing her kindness even after passing away.

The actress who first came to recognition portraying twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on the nineties soap opera "Another World" was involved in a terrible accident last week, which led to her being hospitalized.

Despite the multiple operations performed to ensure her survival, Heche ultimately experienced "a severe anoxic brain damage" and was subsequently declared brain dead a few days later. She remained on life support despite being declared brain dead.

According to reports, the actress' organs got harvested as per her wishes as she has now been taken off life support.

Per reports from US Weekly, Heche's life support got switched off on Sunday after being declared brain dead due to complications from her recent car accident. According to a source who spoke to the news outlet, Heche's organs were harvested for donation before life support got removed.

Heche was also honored with a ceremony called an Honor Walk. The process typically involves the patient being wheeled to the OR for organ recovery while the medical workers line up the hallway and pay their respect to the patient and their family.

The grieving family usually grants the hospital permission to perform the walk. Additionally, the next of kin often follow their lost loved one on the way to the OR. The "Donnie Brasco" star is survived by her two kids, Homer Laffoon, 20, and Atlas Heche Tupper, 13, whom she bore for her exes Coley Laffoon and James Tupper.

She Was Involved In An Accident

Heche was involved in a car crash that left her with a brain injury and severe burns. The incident involved a collision between the actress' blue mini cooper and a two-story house within her place of residence.

Her vehicle caught fire during the ordeal, and it took 59 firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department over an hour to put it out. Reports that followed stated that the actress was under the influence of alcohol while driving.

After getting rushed to the ER, specialists at the hospital worked around the clock to ensure that she survived. Per the news outlet, a source reported that she was "in stable condition" a day after the incident. However, things worsened on Monday, August 8, as the "Dancing With the Stars" alum fell into a coma due to complications from the head trauma.

Heche's worsening condition was revealed by a representative of the family who stated that the actress had suffered a "significant pulmonary injury" and needed life support to sustain her body activities while doctors worked on her survival.

"At this time, she is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention," the source told the publication. "She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident."

However, the surgery and other medical procedures came to naught despite the intensive efforts by the doctors at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital, where she got hospitalized. The actress was declared brain dead a few days later, as revealed by a rep from the family.

"Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remained in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive," the rep revealed.

Anne Heche's Ex-Husband Paid Tribute To The Actress

Heche's ex-husband, Laffoon, paid his respect to the actress via an emotional video posted on his Instagram page after the news made the rounds that she was not expected to survive.

"In the wake of Anne's passing, I just wanted to say a few things," the Los Angeles real estate agent, who was married to Heche from 2001 to 2007, said on Instagram. "One, I loved her, and I miss her, and I'm always going to. Two, Homer is OK. He's grieving, of course, and it's rough. It's really rough, as probably anybody can imagine. But he's surrounded by family, and he's strong, and he's gonna be OK."

After pouring several accolades on the actress, Laffoon ended the video by appreciating Heche for the time they spent together in the past.

He added: "So goodbye, Anne. Love you. Thank you. Thank you for all the good times — there were so many. See you on the other side. And in the meantime, I got our son. He'll be fine. Love you.
