In a since-deleted Instagram post, the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer posted a photo of an unnamed Catholic church. "This is where I originally wanted to get married during COVID !!!!" Britney explained in the caption.

"I wanted to go every Sunday ... it's beautiful and they said it was temporarily shut down due to COVID !!!" she went on. "Then 2 years later when I wanted to get married there they said I had to be catholic and go through TEST !!!!"

"Isn't church supposed to be open to all ???" she asked. As Page Six pointed out, Britney was raised Southern Baptist but also studied Kabbalah.

Although Britney didn't call out the church by name, it didn't take long for Internet sleuths to figure out that she uploaded a shot from inside the St. Monica Church. Although Britney claimed that they didn't allow her to get married there, a rep for the church says that she never even asked them to get married there.

After Britney's post went live, the church says that they even checked their records and confirmed that the "Criminal" singer never personally visited the church or asked them to host her wedding there. However, they did concede that Britney was right at one point: at least one spouse has to be Catholic in order to have a wedding in a Catholic Church.

The church also said that the picture Britney took was from a live stream of a wedding and not a photo that she took herself. The church was actually able to identify the couple in the photo and confirmed that Britney had not been in attendance at her wedding.

Instead, Britney hosted her own fairytale wedding in the backyard of her home in Thousand Oaks, California.

Britney's team pulled out all the stops for her fairytale wedding, which even included a horse-drawn carriage covered with flowers as she transformed her luxurious abode into a storybook wedding. However, things took a dramatic turn when Britney's first husband, Jason Alexander, tried to crash the wedding. The two got hitched in Las Vegas in 2004 but the family annulled the marriage about 55 hours later.

Jason went live on Instagram when he approached security for the event, claiming to be invited. It's not clear exactly how he managed to get past security, but a physical struggle ensued that ended up with her ex-husband being dragged out of her house and restrained on the front lawn until the cops showed up.

Britney Spears was also married to her ex-husband Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007.  K-Fed’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told TMZ that their two boys, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, were not going to be at the wedding the day of the event. In a brief statement, he said, “Although the boys will not be in attendance, Kevin and the boys are happy for Britney and wish her and Sam all the best going forward.”

Although her parents, Jamie Spears and Lynne Spears, and her siblings, Bryan Spears and Jamie Lynn Spears, were not invited to attend the celebration, it did include a star-studded guest list, including singer Madonna, actress Reese Witherspoon, singer Selena Gomez, and close friend Paris Hilton.

Britney and Sam met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video back in 2016 and have been together ever since. The Iranian actor finally popped the question back in September 2021 at her home with a ring designed by Roman Malayev of Forever Diamonds in New York City.

Sam’s manager Brandon Cohen confirmed the engagement at the time, saying, “The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication, and love expressed to them.”
