'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair is undoubtedly the stylin', profilin', limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' and dealin' son of a gun. And at 73 years young, he is going to have his final match on July 31st. But up until now, he doesn't have an opponent.

With less than two weeks before the big match, there are many choices on fans minds on who it should be against, but we think we have the perfect person that should do it.

Ric Flair Dealing With A Foot Injury Before His Final Match

Wrestling is a sport that at 21 years of age or in Flair's situation, 73 years of age always has an element for one to get injured. It has been reported that Flair is dealing with a foot injury, that will not cost him to perform in his last match. But there is other health issues that Flair is dealing with that makes this upcoming match actually something that people are worrying about Flair's well-being as it takes place.

Flair has a heart condition called alcoholic cardiomyopathy which is a condition where your heart changes shape because of long-term heavy alcohol use. The changes to your heart’s shape cause long-term damage, leading to heart failure and other severe problems.

Back in August of 2017, Flair had bowel surgery which led to various complications including kidney failure that required dialysis treatment and being placed in a medically induced coma. He also has dealt with blood clots and other various health-related issues over the years mostly based on his years of abusing alcohol. This is also a man who has survived a plane crash in his past. It might be that Flair is unstoppable and unbreakable. With all that in mind, his final opponent might have a long night ahead of them and even through injury and health related problems, Flair likely will still be able to deliver a match for the ages.

But who should be that challenger?

Ric Flair To Announce His Final Opponent Before Monday Night Raw

Many rumors have been swirling the last few weeks on who Flair would challenge after it was announced that Ric Flair's Last Match was actually happening. The former sixteen-time world champion shared some clips of training in the ring with fellow wrestling star and friend Jay Lethal, and at first and according to wrestling journalist, Dave Meltzer, shared on his Wrestling Observer Radio program that Flair was going to be be involved in a six-man tag team match that would pit Flair and AEW’s FTR which consists of Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood facing the legendary Rock ‘N’ Roll Express and a mystery partner.

Meltzer mentioned on his show, “He is planning to wrestle again, yes. I don’t know more details. He told me it was a secret but the rumor has it [that it’s] Ric Flair and FTR against The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and somebody. A match that he is training for [but] not right away. I guess it will get announced when it gets announced if it happens. Something like this could fall through, he could get hurt in training.”

Meltzer has since mentioned Flair is apparently dealing with a foot injury that won't take him away from the match but the original rumor he brought up on the tag match seems to be nothing more than just a rumor as Flair announced on Twitter on July 18th that he will announce the person he actually will face, and it might be someone in the WWE Universe.

That actually would make lots of sense, especially with Flair's ties to the WWE, being a multi-time WWE Hall of Famer, and the fact that the WWE will also be in Nashville the day before for their yearly SummerSlam Premium Live Event. It seems as if the puzzle pieces would be falling into place. So tonight while we are all watching WWE's Monday Night Raw, Flair wil have his opponent.

With things gearing towards a WWE Superstar to take the challenge, it steers clear from what many have thought if it wasn't his training partner, Jay Lethal or the rumored tag match that was brought up above and debunked, that it would be his old nemesis Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat, but that has also since been debunked because allegedly Steamboat was asking for more money than they were originally going to give him.

For the fans sake, hopefully the opponent won't disappoint fans expectations, and one way to achieve that in our eyes would be to get someone that would make many headlines, and we at The Blast feel we have the perfect person in mind.

David Arquette Is A Former WCW Heavyweight Champion

One of the most controversial and infamous moments in wrestling history is when 'Scream' actor David Arquette won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. On the April 26, 2000 episode of WCW Thunder, he would team with DDP to defeat Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett in a tag team match. The actor pinned Bischoff to win the match which in this instance meant he also won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Through the years of ridicule that Arquette faced over winning the championship from wrestling fans, he has since turned fans towards his side in the last couple years after taking over the Independent Wrestling scene and documenting it in his film, 'You Cannot Kill David Arquette' which was a documentary back in 2020 that followed David Arquette attempting to return to wrestling after his acting career was slowing down.

Through tremendous hard work and almost dying in the ring, Arquette proved that he deserves major respect not only from wrestling fans but fellow wrestlers. The fact that he did that tells that story of the unthinkable actually becoming a reality. What many believe is happening with Flair trying to wrestle again at 73 years of age.

Arquette would be able to give Flair a great match, would be able to protect him and the match would be watched by so many and reach not only wrestling fans but also reach those inside and outside Hollywood. It is all about selling those tickets!

They both could put on a match that would define their careers in the ring and be seen as the ultimate redemption to the naysayers from the past in Arquette's case and actually button up a career for Flair that is nothing short of spectacular but one that people are trying to knock down with this latest attempt to return to the ring.

Both men are tremendous entertainers that are always looking to entertain. They are both former WCW World Heavyweight Champions. This would have the wrestling world talking for a long time, and just imagine they pull it off in the ring. This has to happen!

Now for something that has to happen, likely will not happen. So, whether it is a complete unknown, a former foe, a WWE Superstar or actually our choice, David Arquette, it will be announced tonight before WWE's Monday Night Raw. Make sure to come back later this evening as we will update who Flair has actually chose. Until then take a look at the card for the evening of his last match.
