Actor Jonathan Bailey is about to join the cast of yet another period drama!

The English actor has been making headlines for his portrayal of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, head of the Bridgerton household, in the Netflix period drama "Bridgerton." In season 2, Anthony's love story was the highlight of the season and followed his love match with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

Since he is the head of the Bridgerton household, it's unlikely that Bailey is going anywhere, and fans hope to see a lot more of him and Kate in season three. In the meantime, Bailey's name has been attached to a brand new period drama from Showtime.

On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the "Chewing Gum" star will join Matt Bomer and Allison Williams in a limited series set in Washington D.C. in the 1950s. The show is called "Fellow Travelers" and will contain eight episodes.

The show is based on the novel written by Thomas Mallon. Although a love story is definitely part of the series, it is also a political thriller. Bomer plays a character named Hawkins Fuller, who is a charismatic political operative who tries to avoid emotional attachments. Meanwhile, Tim Laughlin, played by Bailey, is described as "an earnest Fordham University graduate brimming with idealism and religious faith."

"Girls" star Allison Williams will play Lucy Smith, the daughter of a senator who has known Hawkins since they were teenagers. However, it's been reported that Tim is also Hawkins' secret lover, which could create quite an interesting love triangle!

Matt Bomer actually started trending after the news broke, with plenty of fans excited to see the romance between the characters of Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey play out on screen.

Although season 3 of "Bridgerton" is expected to start filming in London this summer, THR reported that the Showtime limited series will begin production in Toronto later this month. It remains to be seen when Bailey will be filming for "Bridgerton," but it's also not the only project he's become attached to in recent weeks.

Although Jonathan Bailey may be best known for his role in "Bridgerton," Star Wars fans recognize Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso from 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Although she isn't going to reprise her role for the "Andor" prequel series, which hits Disney+ later this year, fans are still looking forward to seeing her in a new comedy called "Maria."

The news was reported by Deadline, which revealed that Simon Amstell is writing and directing the comedy. “The Theory of Everything” actress will star in the title role as a young woman who reportedly has a “history of running from reality.”

Maria reportedly struggles to accept her age, her boyfriend, and her father’s indifference. While attending her father’s wedding, she meets Raffy, her new stepbrother. They have immediate sexual chemistry. If that wasn’t bad enough, her father had also been diagnosed with a terminal illness, hinting at a lot of drama ahead for the young couple.

“Harry Potter” alum Jason Isaacs will play Maria’s father and Bailey will play Maria’s boyfriend, Eddy. The feature is scheduled to film in both the U.K. and the U.S. this fall, so season 3 of "Bridgerton" should be done filming by then.

Amstell will also serve as executive producer on the project, alongside EMU Films’ Michael Elliott, Jim Mooney and Walli Ullah, and Cora Palfrey and Sarah Lebutsch from Independent Entertainment.

In a statement, Amstell said, “I’m incredibly excited to begin shooting Maria this year with Felicity Jones. Our hope is that making a film about our culture’s fear of aging and death will be an absolute sensation.”

In April, Bailey sat down with Harper's Bazaar to discuss what fans can expect for season 3, and many were excited to learn that more of Kate's background will be explored in the upcoming season.

When asked about where Kate and Anthony will be by the time the third season returns, Bailey revealed that seeing the new couple in "the honeymoon phase is essential."

"I think Kate’s gonna have a shock," he added. "She’s had a lot of responsibility within her family, but she knows nothing [about how] to head up the Bridgerton family. She is now gonna be the viscountess, so that’s gonna be an interesting balance between her taking over from Lady Violet (Ruth Gemmell)."
