According to the news outlet, the Hollywood Vampires band member was gearing up to star as King Louis XV in the movie, which would be directed by Maïwenn, a French filmmaker.

Details about the upcoming film were being kept under wraps aside from the shooting locations, which would be primarily at the Palace of Versailles and other places in Paris.

So what can fans expect to see from Depp’s character? The "Alice in Wonderland" star would portray the disgraced Louis XV, who ruled France as the country's king for 59 years from 1715 to 1774.

Although he earned the moniker Louis The Beloved, the monarch's reign ended tragically after being accused of "debauchery and corruption."

Ironically, the Golden Globe Award winner's first movie came after he was accused of domestic violence by his ex-wife. However, unlike Louis XV, the 59-year-old was proven innocent.

The battle between the "Finding Neverland" star and Heard began when the "Aquaman" actress detailed alleged experiences of abuse in a 2018 article published by The Washington Post.

Despite not naming Depp as the perpetrator of these villainous acts, the Hollywood sensation fell from grace as the majority of the public labeled him guilty.

The actor was awarded a total of $8.35million (£6.7million) in damages while the "Justice League'' actress got $2m (£1.6million) in damages after counter-suing her ex-husband.
