John Cenamade his grand return to the WWE during WWE's Monday Night Raw on June 27th to celebrate his 20-year anniversary with the company that has also been celebrating this monumental achievement all month long both online on WWE.com and on the WWE Network on Peacock.
The WWE Universe has been waiting for this moment for a long time but did Cena go unscathed upon his return, or did things go haywire instead?

Cena returns! Monday Night Raw started with a bang as Cena was applauded backstage by fellow WWE Superstars, backstage crew, and legends, who were all ecstatic with his return. Cena greeted everyone with hugs, handshakes, and high fives. Happiness was spread throughout the backstage area to start the show on the right track.
Throughout the telecast, Cena also took time to give advice to The Street Profits for their upcoming match at Money in the Bank on July 2nd in Las Vegas, where they will have a huge match against The Usos, who will be defending their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships.
The celebrations then continued with taped messages from WWE Legends Shawn Michaels, and Triple H along with surprise videos from The Big Show, Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho to name a few who all gave their kudos to Cena, who many consider not only the best but one of the most decorated WWE Superstars of all time.
Add to that, an amazing career retrospective video was shown that showed all his successes in and out of the ring and in Hollywood. And what might be most important, it showed his tireless work with the US military and The Make-A-Wish Foundation where he is the one person who has granted the most wishes over any other celebrity ever. It really dialed into what Cena has done both for the WWE and the wrestling industry as a whole.
It was an impressive and celebratory night for the most part. But it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be as later in the night, fellow WWE Superstar, Theory looked to make a scene by interrupting Cena backstage to continue to call Cena out as he has been doing that for the last few months online and on WWE TV.
John Cena Continues Feud With Theory
What initially looked like a fun nightfor Cena turned into a bit of a nightmare when Mr. McMahon's chosen one, Theory and the current WWE United States Champion interrupted Cena's advice discussion with Ezekial and mentioned that the night should be devoted to him by gloating, "They should be celebrating ME!" When Theory attempted to get a selfie with Cena, he couldn't be seen for it as he left before any of that could happen making Theory even more furious. Would it lead to an attack later in the evening?
Cena, who is a sixteen-time champion always has a target on his back when he returns to the ring and during WWE's Monday Night Raw, things got rowdy really fast with Theory's antics but would the big moment of his arrival to the live crowd as Mr. McMahon joined the entire roster of the WWE to introduce John Cena to his adoring fans and peers be ruined by other's intentions to make a name for themselves at Cena's expense?
John Cena To Wrestle At 2022's Summer Slam?
Cena was humble upon his return mentioning that the fans are the real reason for the past twenty years of the person he has become exclaiming, "Thank you for making me who I am!' And those fans chanted in unison for one more match.
Cena who has not wrestled on TV since SummerSlam 2021, where he lost to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event has been rumored to be at this years Summer Slam on July 30th in Nashville, but nothing was set in stone. And instead of an attack or big announcement, Cena soaked up the celebrations and gave back to the fans his thanks and he promised that we will see him again in the ring, he just doesn't know when. He also mentioned it would be more than one match.
It was a nice touch to have Cena celebrate without interference, it just makes us all want more. And Cena promised that it would happen, now we can't wait. Here's hoping the sooner the better and hopefully at Summer Slam.
Which lead us to the last hour of Monday Night Raw where Seth 'Freaking' Rollins was in the back and had a run-in with Cena, putting another person in Cena's way for when he does return to get his hands on. The WWE is definitely brewing something for the future and we are all going to have to wait and see how it all turns out.
But as long as it leads to more Cena on our WWE TV, then that is only a good thing!
