The countdown has begun to the release of Marvel's "Love and Thunder." However, before the premiere of the highly-anticipated movie, its lead character, Chris Hemsworth, is dishing on what fans can expect.

"Love and Thunder," the sequel to "Thor: Ragnarok," tells the story of  Thor's return from retirement to fight off Gorr the God Butcher with the help of Valkyrie, and Jane Foster — his earthly girlfriend from 2013's "Thor: The Dark World"  who gained superpowers to become Mighty Thor.

Of course, it's an interesting and unusual storyline as depicted in the engaging trailer but Hemsworth wants fans to know that there's more to be seen when the movie eventually drops.

Gushing about the movie, Hemsworth said, "This film is- how can I put it? It's one of the craziest things, if not the craziest thing, [director Taika Waititi] has ever made. I think it's the most insane thing I've been a part of."

He continued, "It's wacky, it's wild, it's fun, just like Thor: Ragnarok was, but we now have a beautiful love story at the center of it."

Hemsworth also gave insight into how director Waititi navigated the different characters including many MCU newcomers such as Christian Bale as the villain Gorr the God Butcher.

"I think the biggest challenge for Taika was kind of sifting through the breaks and the comedic improvisations that went south and piecing it together," he explained. "It just gives the whole set a different energy. Everything that you see on screen is a byproduct of that environment. Taika does that -- he orchestrates a wacky set and then gives you a wacky film."

The "Extraction" actor also dished on his co-star Natalie Portman who stars as Jane Foster and the hard work she put into getting ripped for the role.

The Australian Native Showered Praises On His Co-star

As The Blast previously reported, Portman's return as Foster in the 2-minute-15 second trailer wasn't the only thing that shocked fans.

The Israeli native looked nothing like herself, donning a jaw-dropping bulky and toned physique for the movie. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the "Black Swan" elaborated on the grueling journey she underwent to gain such impressive muscle mass.

Portman revealed that she trained for four months with fitness expert Naomi Pendergast before filming began and continued even through filming.

Talking about the process, the 41-year-old said, "We did a lot of weight training and a lot of protein shakes—heavyweight training that I haven’t ever done before. Of course, I’ve never really aimed to get bulky. It was very physical, so it was a lot of both agility work and also strength work."

Hemsworth wasn't blind to all the hard work Portman put into becoming Might Thor, and celebrated her success, saying, "She's always had a great sort of physicality and has trained a lot through her career and through her life... but she lifted a lot more weights on this one to sort of sculpt her muscles and so on."

The 38-year-old also mentioned that Tessa Thompson, who starred as Valkyrie, often joined him and Portman during on-set workouts.

He recalled, "We had a big ice bath there, which we'd rotate through, and that became... the real test of strength. I'd done it a bit, but I sort of was keeping my time in there to a minute or two, and [Tessa] came in the first day and did three and a half minutes. So then we all had to try and do three minutes."

Is There Still A Future For Hemsworth In MCU?

Thor was one of the original Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is still standing strong. However, it's unknown if he will remain a part of the franchise after "Love and Thunder."

Hemsworth reflected on how far he has come since his start as Thor in 2011. In his words, "It's obviously shaped my career. It's been really interesting looking back recently and thinking about my time playing this character and how the character evolved and also I was evolving and learning and maturing."

As for whether he would hang up his hammer after "Love and Thunder," the "Home and Away" alum confessed that he remains unsure of the future.

"I don't know," Hemsworth admitted. "Each time I've done it, I sort of thought, 'OK, I don't know what else I could say as this character, and thanks for having me,' and then something else just comes up -- a new script or a new director."

Nevertheless, the superhero actor noted that he's open to anything that comes his way.
