G Young Slime Life rap group member Gunna has been in custody since last month after being charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and involvement in illegal street gang activities.

Since his arrest, the "pushin P" crooner has kept quiet about his feelings regarding his situation, as it appears that the whole thing is still a shock to him. Things changed on Tuesday when the rapper reversed his position on remaining silent and spoke out for the first time since Georgia authorities charged him and his label mate Young Thug.

'I Had The Whole World Pushing P'

Gunna marked his 29th birthday by writing an emotional letter in which he expressed his sentiments over the criminal allegations leveled against him. The rapper's message on his Instagram page lamented how his breakout year was ruined when he was included in a 56-count indictment that implicated Young Thug and other YSL members.

"2022 has been one of the best years of my life, despite this difficult situation. This year I had the whole world pushing P," Gunna wrote in the post.

Gunna was alluding to his album "DS4EVER's" popular tune "pushin P." The song charted in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and was accompanied by a music video starring Future and Young Thug. Based on the song's success, Gunna pledged to continue the theme with a book called "6 Things I Do to be Pushing P." However, that plan got shelved following the rapper's arrest last month.

Gunna Declares He Is 'Innocent'

Gunna also discussed his life experiences in his letter, claiming that he has witnessed Black people being assaulted, murdered, belittled, and condemned, and how he utilizes his position to address these concerns and elevate the community.

Though overwhelming, the charges slammed against him seem not to have broken the rapper's spirit as he continued to maintain his innocence and promised not to give up in the ongoing fight to regain his freedom.

"For now, I don't have my freedom," he said." But I am innocent. I am being falsely accused and will never stop fighting to clear my name!"

The rapper then concluded the letter, penning, "Nothing will stop me from chasing my dreams, I won't stop being a good person, even if some unnamed and unknown accuser wants the world to see me as a bad person."

The RICO Case

Gunna was taken into custody two days after Young Thug got arrested on May 9 for his alleged involvement in the 28-person ring.

According to People, the charges against the duo include "maintaining armed individuals ready and willing to preserve, protect and enhance the reputation, power, and territory of the enterprise through the use of violence; Obtaining money, weapons and other property through acts of racketeering activity, including robbery, theft and the unlawful sale and distribution of drugs; and Obstructing law enforcement investigations and court proceedings through witness intimidation and attacks upon law enforcement officers."

The indictment uses lyrics from various music videos as evidence, which is allowed in the state of Georgia, although it was recently prohibited in New York. On June 2, a judge denied the bond for Gunna and set his trial date for Jan. 9, 2023.
