'Samantha Jones' Will Not Be Killed Off In Season 2 Of 'And Just Like That...'

Kim Cattrall may not be a part of the “Sex And The City” family anymore, but that doesn’t mean Samantha Jones is going anywhere.
The iconic, sex-crazed character brought to life by Cattrall from 1998 to 2010 will live on in season two of “And Just Like That.”
Season one of the ‘SATC’ revival debuted on HBO Max in 2021 and fans of the beloved show got to hear glimpses of Samantha.

The character never physically appeared on-screen due to Cattrall not signing on to the project, but Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) continued to talk about their “dear friend.”
A new report from Variety confirms the question on everyone’s mind following the final episode from season one of ‘AJLT.’

After Carrie dumps Big’s ashes into the Seine river in France, she sends a text to Samantha, who now lives in London, about meeting up for drinks.
The episode ends with Carrie back in the states a very brief mention of their drink date.
Show runner, Michael Patrick King, revealed that Carrie and Samantha will continue texting in season two.
Season two is in the very, very early stages of production. King and his team of writers only recently began working on ‘AJLT 2.’
King also revealed what Carrie and Samantha would’ve chatted about during their overseas meetup.
“It’s very funny, because every single one of the writers has a different version of what happened during that conversation,” King said. “So, I think there was some Champagne. I think there was a grownup back and forth, and a love affair that they realized that something’s more important than being afraid to heal. I’m sure they had a great night. To me, they had a great night and things became resolved. Once Carrie let go of an old, old love, one of her current loves came back in.”
He explained production on season two will begin in October with a goal of premiering in summer 2023.
New York will continue to serve as the backdrop for a majority of the show, but viewers did see Miranda preparing to move to Los Angeles with her girlfriend, Che Diaz.
Cattrall famously had issues with her co-stars, namely SJP, throughout filming.
There were multiple rumors that Cattrall acted like a “diva,” and made demands that could not be met.
But, according to the actress, those were all false.
Cattrall & Parker Had A Massive Falling Out, Which Led To Her Exit
In 2017, she sat down with Piers Morgan to explain her reason for not returning to a third “Sex And The City” movie.
When news of a ‘SATC 3’ movie began to make media headlines, it was revealed that it wasn’t getting made due to Cattrall’s “demands” which halted the film.
However, Cattrall told a very different story to Piers.
She revealed she had been saying ‘NO’ to a third film for over a year before SJP went public with her version of the story, which painted a horrible picture of Cattrall.
“Nobody ever picks up the phone and tries to contact you and say, ‘How you doing?’ That would have been the way to handle it,” Cattrall shared, suggesting SJP is not the only co-star to blame for the rift. “This is, it feels like, a toxic relationship.”
Cattrall also went on to say, “I think she [Sarah Jessica] could’ve been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is.”
In December 2016, Cattrall said, “Thank you, but no,” to a third ‘SATC’ movie.
