Josh Duggar Sentenced For Twelve And A Half Years

On Wednesday, Josh, who had been in custody since December after being convicted of two counts of downloading and possessing child porn, was sentenced at the Western District of Arkansas Federal Courthouse.

The "19 Kids & Counting" star was sent to twelve years and seven months in prison as his wife Anna Duggar sat in the viewing gallery.

Judge Brooks, who presided over the case, told the disgraced reality star, "The images were some of the worst that this court has ever encountered," calling his act of possessing child pornography the "sickest of the sickest."

Brooks explained that Josh's long sentence was exacerbated by the molestation he subjected his sisters to as teenagers and his refusal to accept guilt.

Alongside his twelve and seven years prison sentence, Josh was fined $50,100 and was prohibited from having access to children between six months to 12 years, including his own seven kids, without supervision.

Josh will remain under supervision for an additional 20 years after his prison sentence is complete and has been barred from using the internet and watching adult porn.

Initially, his lawyers asked for a light sentence of five years, painting Josh as a devoted Christian and loving father. His mother, Michelle Duggar, and wife Anna even wrote letters to the court, pleading for leniency and defending his excellent character.

On the other hand, the prosecutors asked for a maximum sentence of 20 years, comparing his crime to sexually assaulting a minor.

Although Josh was spared the maximum sentence, he will surely be away for a long, long time and his cousin Amy appreciates that.

Rocking a makeup-free look while in bed, Amy said in the clip, "Oh, I can breathe. He got twelve to almost 13 years."

The relieved cousin explained that she knew getting Josh the maximum sentence wasn't going to happen easily since it was his first offense, but she felt comforted to an extent.

"He cannot have his computer. He cannot hurt, exploit, any more children, and when he sees his kids, he has to be supervised," Amy happily declared.

She continued, "Honestly, where he is going, I feel like the prisoners are going to just take care of him."

The former reality star disclosed that the entire case has been so "stressful" for her, but she doesn't believe it is over yet.

"Definitely, Josh’s sickness stems from somewhere, and eventually we will hear about the trauma. I don’t know when, or how, or who but eventually I think more will come out."

Amy concluded her rant, saying that she would be able to sleep for the first time in a long time, knowing "another monster will be put behind bars."

An Open Letter To Josh's Wife Anna

Since the news of Josh's crimes broke last year, Amy has been the only Duggar openly speaking against her family member.

Such was the case earlier this month when she wrote an open letter to Josh's wife, Anna, urging her to divorce the disgraced reality star.

As The Blast reported, Amy expressed sympathy for the problematic situation Anna, a mother-of-seven, found herself in. She noted that Anna had been taught all her life that marriage was everything and was supposed to last forever.

Amy encouraged her cousin-in-law not to take the blame for her husband's sins as neither she nor her kids chose this life for themselves.

She then urged the bereaved wife to do the brave thing and leave her husband. "If no one else in your life is saying it, I need you to understand that there is no shame in divorcing Josh," Amy stated.

She assured Anna that if she left Josh, their kids would one day understand the truth and thank her for protecting them.

With Josh's recent sentencing, it remains unsure what will be of his marriage to Anna. However, only time will tell.
