Hillary Clinton took to Instagram to celebrate Davidson and McKinnon soon after they performed their final SNL act over the weekend. The post was accompanied by two throwback images that the former United States Secretary of State snapped with the duo.

While the first picture showed a beaming Clinton and 28-year-old Davidson wearing patterned outfits, the second photo showed the 74-year-old posing with her hand around McKinnon's waist. In the caption, the author wrote:

"Congratulations to these two on incredible runs on SNL. Can't wait to see all you do next."

It did not take long before her comment section got filled with words of encouragement and even more congratulations for the former SNL stars.

According to Variety, the news of Davidson and McKinnon's exit from the show broke late last week.

This information made fans emotional as they watched 38-year-old McKinnon in her role as Ms. Rafferty – the woman who survived an abduction and probing by aliens.

Other SNL stars supported the Emmy-winning actress, including Mikey Day and Cecily Strong, with Natasha Lyonne hosting the farewell episode.

The actress got roles such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sheila Sauvage. She performed sketches alongside Aidy Bryant, who also left SNL this weekend.

McKinnon joined the award-winning show in 2012 and was promoted to repertory player in 2013.

Davidson joined SNL a year later during its 40th season. Since then, the actor and comedian has become well-known for his act. For his final episode, he took a hilarious swipe at Fox News Channel for slamming him in 2018.

The slam had come after he shared his opinion about the then-Congressional candidate, Dan Crenshaw. "The Suicide Squad" actor pointed out that Fox News has now joined the bandwagon of those criticizing Crenshaw.

The comedian appreciated the show's executive producer Lorne Michaels for his words of wisdom and patience.

He informed viewers that he enjoyed having "SNL" as a home base for eight years, even though he sometimes had to share his time with other personal projects. To that end, Davidson joked saying:

"I became hugely successful while barely showing up for work."

McKinnon and Davidson occasionally took weeks-long breaks over the last two seasons of SNL to attend to other TV or movie projects.

Davidson's SNL departure comes amid his wild wind romance with Kim Kardashian. The Blast had earlier reported that Kardashian's ex-husband, Kanye 'Ye' West continued to show his displeasure with the duo's relationship in a rant.

In the sound off, which he shared via social media, the "DONDA" rapper stated that he suspected Davidson had dated Clinton before. To back up his point, Ye pointed to a tattoo of Clinton on Davidson's arm.

The "Big Time Adolescence" actor first unveiled the tattoo in 2018, claiming that he wanted to give the politician a "Christmas gift." He even thanked and praised her for being one of the strongest people he knew.

Ye added a photoshopped picture of him and Davidson having a face off in what looked like an alien movie poster. To explain, the rapper wrote:

"This ain't about skete people, It's about selling y'all a narrative. Skete just playing his part in Frozen 3 — accept it's not in the theaters this time it's on Daily Mail."

The entrepreneur and fashion designer added that the head of Disney and his staff wasted money making Star Wars because even though it makes money, they would never "control the high schools."

Ye also made it clear that the "Set It Up" actor will never meet his children. To prove that he was sane, the father-of-four dropped a picture that showed him holding a paper with the words, "my account is not hacked."
