The couple has been facing each other at the Fairfax County Circuit Court for most of the past month. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post where she claims that she is a domestic violence survivor. Although she did not mention Depp by name, he claims that he has lost movie roles due to the “clear implication” that he was her abuser. Heard claims that she has also been losing out on movie roles, including several scenes from the upcoming “Aquaman” sequel, and is countersuing for $100 million dollars.
On Monday morning, a hand surgeon testified that Depp’s severed finger injury did not happen the way that he had alleged after reviewing medical records and photographic evidence. After a lunch break, Depp was expected to take the stand to be questioned by the defense.
However, it seems now that Depp is not going to take the stand again.
Johnny Depp Is NOT Back On The Stand On Monday, May 23
On Monday afternoon, Deadline reported that Johnny Depp was not going to take the stand after all. The Blast was able to confirm that this was not the case. Although Depp was supposed to be the third witness for the day, entertainment industry consultant Kathryn Arnold took the stand instead.
A source close to Heard’s team said, “Calling Depp back to the stand would be as relevant to us as a bicycle to a fish. Everything Depp has testified up to this point has been irrelevant to the heart of this case, and there’s no reason to believe it would be any different now.”
This is just another shocking twist in the trial which is expected to wrap up on Friday. It is not clear how long it will take for the jury to reach a verdict given the years of evidence they have to consider from both sides.
Kate Moss Scheduled To Testify On Wednesday
In yet another shocking twist to the trial, model Kate Moss is expected to be called to the stand on Wednesday. The news was announced on Monday afternoon by the New York Post. A source told the outlet that Moss will testify via video link.
While on the stand, Heard testified that she had heard a rumor that Depp had pushed Moss down a flight of stairs when the two dated in the 1990s.
California entertainment lawyer Mitra Ahouraian told the publication, “That’s one mistake that [Heard] made, was bringing up Kate Moss, which potentially opened the door to [Depp’s team] bringing [Moss] on as an impeachment witness” — and Moss “saying ‘This never happened.’”
A source reportedly close to Depp also told the outlet, “Amber mentioned an ex of Johnny’s that clearly she felt was not supportive of him, which couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Moss had dated Depp between 1994 and 1997. She has reportedly been supportive of Depp throughout the trial. However, the same cannot be said of ex Ellen Barkin who testified against Depp last Thursday. She testified that Depp was jealous and controlling during their brief sexual relationship in 1994, testifying that Depp had once thrown a bottle of wine across a hotel room.
