Hoechlin Was In Five Seasons Of Teen Wolf

At the beginning of "Teen Wolf," Hoechlin's character, Derek, was a mysterious and powerful werewolf who helped and mentored Scott, who had just discovered his werewolf abilities. Fans might also remember him for his preference for black leather jackets.

As the seasons went on, Derek's cold mannerisms and tough behavior melted as he got closer to Scott, and they faced bigger problems and villains together. Fans got to see how Derek really had a soft side and a big heart.

Hoechlin featured in the first four seasons of "Teen Wolf" and then returned in season six to wrap up the show properly and say goodbye. Fans are excited to see his return, especially with the announcement that his character has a 15-year-old son in the film.

The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night."

It continues, "But only a Werewolf like Scott McCall (Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they've ever faced."

Most Of The Cast Is Returning

Paramount+ has also announced the cast for the "Teen Wolf" film, and there are many familiar faces for the fans of the series. There are a few surprises, too, like the return of Crystal Reed as the character of Allison Argent, who died in season three of the series.

One other surprise is the absence of one of the biggest names from the series, Dylan O'Brien, who played Stiles. Stiles left the show before it ended, but with the return of Derek, many fans hoped that meant Stiles would return to the screen.

There are still additional names, but so far, the cast includes Hoechlin as Derek, Reed as Allison, Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, Holland Roden as Lydia Martin, Orny Adams as Coach Bobby Finstock, J.R. Bourne as Chris Argent, Shelley Hennig as Malia Tate, Seth Gilliam as Dr. Alan Deaton, Linden Ashby as Sheriff Noah Stilinski, Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore.

O'Brien Isn't Returning For The Movie

During a recent interview with Variety, O'Brien spoke about his decision not to reprise his role one last time for the film. His character, Stiles, was already an in and out character by the series finale of the CW show, so his absence in the film isn't so surprising.

O'Brien said, "It was a difficult decision. A lot went into it. The show couldn't be more dear to me. It was the first thing I ever did I, and so many people there are extremely dear to me. It was something I was trying to make work, but it all happened very fast."

"We didn't really know that it was happening, and they kind of just threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show. We were trying to figure it out." he continued, "Ultimately, I just decided it was left in a really good place for me, and I still want to leave it there. I wish them well, and I'm going to watch it the first night it comes out. I hope it f--king kicks ass, but I'm not going to be in it."
