Norm Macdonald To Have New Comedy Special On Netflix
Netflix will release the secret special that is actually titled Norm Macdonald: Nothing Special‚ on May 30th. And when Netflix spoke to his producing partner and friend Lori Jo Hoekstra, she told them that during a hospital visit in 2020 things really got off the ground to do this secret special saying that, “His test results were not good, so during the heart of COVID-19 pandemic and literally the night before going in for a procedure, he wanted to get this on tape just in case – as he put it – things went south. It was his intention to have a special to share if something happened.”
She added that, “It makes me so happy that I can share it, but also so sad that we can’t share it with him. He didn’t do this for the shock that it exists. He shot it because he loved his material and was so proud of his material. He worked so hard and it really would’ve bothered him to have done all that work and not been able to show everybody. He did it for the stand-up. I just hope people appreciate that he did this.”
It is safe to say that his fans and the world of comedy will love it immensely!
Norm Macdonald Kept Many Secrets
At the time of his passing, MacDonald had kept his health struggles away from his family, friends, and his passionate fans. “He was most proud of his comedy. He never wanted the diagnosis to affect the way the audience or any of his loved ones saw him. Norm was a pure comic. He once wrote that ‘a joke should catch someone by surprise, it should never pander.’ He certainly never pandered. Norm will be missed terribly.” his producing partner and friend Hoekstra said in a statement at the time.
But though the sadness is still there that Macdonald is gone, how awesome is it that we get to see some new material. The special will also include clips from friends like Adam Sandler, Conan O’Brien, Dave Chappelle, David Letterman, David Spade and Molly Shannon to name a few discussing Macdonald and what he meant to them and what he meant to comedy.
And he meant quite a bit to comedy and we can’t wait to see what he will be giving us for his last act, it should be in a word, incredible.
