It just made me so much more open and vulnerable in my friendships, and then in my performances, and then in my interviews,” shared the songstress with the popular music magazine.

“It had this domino effect on every other area of my life.” She noted. Cabello has discussed her mental health journey on her social media accounts in the past and used her platform to encourage her followers to advocate for their own mental health.

Being Latina, Cabello noted that it is not always accepted to talk about your struggles. In fact, she points out that most of the time it is considered “weak”.

Cabello previously shared that she had recently experienced the “worst mental state” of her life.  While she notes that she is more open to talking about it, it was still a struggle “even talking about it with my family, it’s so different.”

Cabello shared with People magazine in April that therapy was not something she initially considered but “I was cripplingly anxious." The “Psychofreak” singer kept it skeptical going into her first few sessions.

“For me, it was, if this process doesn’t help me in feeling better, and if it’s not me being honest and vulnerable and unfiltered, I don’t really see how this is going to happen.” Being herself was her first intention and she worried that being herself would be too much… even for a therapist.

Luckily for Cabello, she found a therapist that works for her which is one of the keys to continuing her journey through healthy mental health.

The singer shared that “vomiting” her emotions into the mic also helped! “I just word-vomited into a mic in the form of a melody,” she claimed. “It really doesn’t get more personal than that. I was all stream of consciousness.”

The album talks about everything from her struggles with everyday life, her mental health of course, this is talked about heavily in her collaboration with Willow Smith. And her highly publicized split. She shares that her anxiety suffered a bit after the breakup because she “hates” being alone.

In 2020, she penned an essay for the Wallstreet Journal where she talked about how suffocating her mental health has become.

“My anxiety manifested in the form of obsessive-compulsive disorder,” she wrote. “OCD can take many different forms, and for me, it was obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
