Hilaria Baldwin Wants To Let Next Baby 'Define' Their Own Gender

It looks like Hilaria Baldwin is about to welcome another daughter with her husband Alec Baldwin!

The glowing new mom revealed the sex of her baby on an Instagram video that featured the whole Baldwin family, all sharing their excitement for the new bundle of joy. However, Hilaria noted that she wanted to do things a bit differently this time around.

Although Hilaria is welcoming a daughter, it seems she is leaving it up to her new child to determine her own gender identity.

“It’s always been both fun and meaningful for me to find out what is the sex of my baby, yet, as I grow and learn, I want to do it a bit differently this time around,” Hilaria wrote in the caption of the video. “What will make our baby a loving, whole person? What matters?”

“What will make them feel seen, free, and proud?” she asked. “Perhaps nothing that we can define. We can only guide, encourage their spirit, listen, share our experiences, and learn from them, as we watch their own journey. We can provide as good a life as we can, but the rest is up to our baby to discover their own, unique self.”

“I share with you our family’s hopes and wishes, encouragement, and advice for our new baby,” she continued. “I feel so much joy, watching these children, who are filled with love and the most simple, kind wisdom. Hearing them share their words is one of my greatest gifts in life.”

Earlier this year, Hilaria revealed that she had been waiting to disclose the sex of her new baby. She revealed that she lost a baby girl at only 4 months old in 2019. "I think about her daily and understand that motherhood has its beauty and its darkness," she wrote. "But I will wait until I'm passed the point when I lost my daughter."

It seems the author also had another reason for holding back the gender reveal.

“Many of you know how connected I am to the LGBTQIA+ community and I am talking with a few close confidants on how I can be thoughtful and inclusive on helping to curate a more gender inclusive world,” she explained.

“Quite frankly it may just be continuing on as I have,” she admitted. “But given all of the prejudice I’m seeing in this country right now, I need to pause and give it a good think and get some advice. It pains me so much to see that people are vilified and harassed and not included for simply being who they are. Peaceful, loving, beautiful humans.”

Hilaria and her husband, "30 Rock" actor Alec Baldwin, already share children Carmen Gabriela, 8, Rafael Thomas, 6, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 5, Romeo Alejandro David, 3 1/2, and Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, who was born in September 2020, is now 18 months old. María Lucía Victoria, the couple’s newest daughter, was born last spring and is now 13 months old. Alec Baldwin also has a daughter, Ireland Baldwin, 26, with his ex-wife Kim Basinger.
