Hollywood recently celebrated the reunion of the Bennifer duo, marking the couple's second attempt at reigniting their whirlwind romance. Almost a year after their comeback, Ben Affleck got down on one knee and proposed to Jennifer Lopez, ensuring that their newfound love is for the long haul.
While fans continue to adore Affleck and Lopez's romance, some new information surfaced that might have moved the entire tale in a different direction if fate had not intervened. Emma Hernan, star of "Selling Sunset," has recently claimed that she was close to having a love tie with Affleck before he restarted his relationship with Lopez.
Read below for more details.
Emma Hernan Was Allegedly Asked Out For Coffee By Ben Affleck
Since its March 2019 premiere, Netflix's "Selling Sunset" has given viewers a plethora of intriguing revelations. Now in its fifth season, Hernan, one of the show's stars, has made a stunning disclosure that has viewers questioning its reality.
The actress made a claim that subtly implied "Dark Knight" star Affleck had slid into her DMs on the very exclusive dating application Raya just before he reconciled with his now-fiancée Jennifer Lopez in April 2021.
"He may or may not have been texting me," the reality star alleged of the Academy Alumni during the fifth episode of the Netflix show. "He may or may not have asked to grab … coffee a few times."
Even if she was a little careful with her remarks, Hernan seemed convinced that Affleck did come on to her via the app. However, she didn't say if it was all in good fun or whether Affleck was serious about asking her out on a date.
"We Have The Boston Connection"
Hernan recalled her claimed contact with the 49-year-old while having a conversation with her co-star Chrishell Stause, who had inquired from her if she'd ever used the celebrity dating app, Raya.
Stause's description of the Oscar winner's last year viral video sparked the inquiry, in which it was alleged that he had sought out a lady who had unmatched him on the dating site because she believed the person behind the photo was an impostor.
"Remember when Ben Affleck went viral because he, like, sent some girl [something]," Stause had asked her co-star.
The model responded that she remembered, followed by her claims that she had received multiple texts from Affleck. Hernan also revealed his "opening pickup line," which revolved around the two's shared Massachusetts background.
"We have the Boston connection," Emma recounted, adding that "It was very sweet" of him to have pointed out the shared origin tie.
Ben Affleck's Reps Denies That The Actor Slid Into Herman's DM
Hernan's statements appeared to be suspect despite her doing her best to assert that the event did happen. Although some of the show's viewers may have sided with Hernan's version of events, Affleck's team came out to subtly refute that the online exchange actually occurred.
"Raya has confirmed that he has not been an active member for several years," a rep for the actor informed People, following an inquiry about the veracity of Hernan's claims.
If Raya claims that the actor has been on a break from the app, it's reasonable to infer that the chat never took place — at least not on the platform. On the other hand, Affleck has yet to reply to the allegations directed; hence it remains possible that the reality star was not goofing around.
Affleck Recently Got Engaged Lopez For The Second Time
Whether Herman's claims are verified to be true or not, it doesn't matter because Affleck is currently engaged to Lopez, an action that could lead to a wedding in the future. The actress revealed the update in her newsletter on April 8, saying she and Ben had become engaged for the second time but are yet to pick a wedding date to fully lock in their romance.
On her part, Hernan is currently single, although her previous romances have been a big topic of controversy on "Selling Sunset." It is unclear whether that status will change very soon or if it will take a longer time. In the meantime, viewers can be confident that the reality star will continue to lead more drama on the Netflix show.
Selling Sunset Season 5 is available for streaming on Netflix.
