Bill Murray Accused Of 'Inappropriate Behavior' On 'Being Mortal' Set

Actor Bill Murray may be in hot water.

On Thursday afternoon, Deadline reported that Murray’s latest project, “Being Mortal” has been suspended due to accusations of inappropriate behavior against Bill Murray.

The “Ghostbusters” actor has been accused of inappropriate behavior on set for “Being Mortal.” As a result, production on the project has stopped. Searchlight did not comment on an ongoing investigation. It is unclear if Murray will be involved in the project going forward. The investigation is still ongoing.

Aziz Ansari is starring in, writing, producing, and making his directorial debut in the feature. Seth Rogen will also be appearing in the film. Neither one of them was named in the complaint.

The complaint was filed last week and production was halted on Monday, April 18. The project has been suspended as the investigation continues. The studio reportedly sent out news of the suspension to the cast and crew on Wednesday night.

The film is based on the nonfiction book “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End” by Atul Gawande. The film was set to star Ansari, Rogen, and Murray. Principal photography had started on March 28 and sources told the outlet that the production was halfway to completion before production was halted.

Although the film has a scheduled 2023 release date, it is unclear if the production’s suspension will affect the release.

Unfortunately, Murray is not the only one who has been accused of inappropriate conduct in the past month.

Actor Frank Langella has been removed from the production of the new Netflix horror series, “Fall of the House of Usher.” Producers investigated allegations of misconduct on set and decided to dismiss Langella, 84, after their investigation, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Langella had been accused of sexual harassment after making “inappropriate remarks” to a female costar. The investigation was completed with the series also halfway through production. As a result of his dismissal, Langella’s role will be recast and footage that Langella had shot over the past few months will not be used.

The 84-year-old actor had previously earned a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his role in 2008’s “Frost/Nixon.” Langella had been cast as Roderick Usher in the limited eight-episode series, which is inspired by several works by horror author Edgar Allan Poe.

According to Deadline, all previous scenes that Langella had shot will have to be refilmed, which will most likely cause a significant delay in the release of the series. Netflix has described the story as “an epic tale of greed, horror, and tragedy.” Langella was supposed to play the Usher family patriarch Roderick Usher. There is no word as to who will replace him.

“Star Wars” alum Mark Hamillhas already been cast in the series. Although his character has not been named, he is rumored to be “surprisingly at home in the shadows.” Hamill will be joined by actress Carla Gugino, who has appeared in many of Flanagan’s other Netflix projects. “Major Crimes” star Mary McDonnell has been cast as Roderick’s twin sister, Madeline Usher, and “Alias” actor Carl Lumbly has been cast as detective C. Auguste Dupin. Willa Fitzgerald joined the cast on January 28.

“The Fall of the House of Usher” is the latest project created by Mike Flanagan, who is the mastermind behind Netflix's “The Haunting of Hill House,” “The Haunting of Bly Manor” and the recent “Midnight Mass” series.

The Poe adaption will last eight episodes, each of which has been written by Flanagan himself. He and long-time collaborator Michael Fimognari will each be directing four episodes. There is no release date scheduled for the series.
