Things have taken a turn for the worst for Tory Lanez in his assault case involving fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
The former friends are still going at it in court, but Lanez's recent appearance in the courtroom led to him being apprehended.
Tory Lanez Arrested For Violating Protective Order
In the early hours of Tuesday, April 5, Lanez showed up at a Los Angeles courthouse for his hearing in the Megan Thee Stallion felony assigned case.
As you might know, the feud between both parties, which has since escalated into a legal battle, dates back to July 2020 when Lanez was accused of shooting Megan in the foot when an alleged dispute turned violent.
Although the “Say It” rapper denied the claim, authorities discovered a gun in his vehicle which was believed to have been used on Megan and he was arrested.
Megan and Lanez have been in court since last year fighting out and ongoing hearings in the court case have revealed several truths about what happened.
Back in March, we reported that an LAPD detective during a testimony revealed a shocking comment Lanez made to the “Savage” rapper during the altercation.
The law enforcement officer claimed that Lanez yelled “dance B—h, dance” at Megan before firing several shots at her feet, something which the Canadian rapper has since denied.
However, Lanez was set for another hearing today when the judge found him guilty of violating the protective order made against him for Megan.
Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon who was present at the courthouse broke the news in a tweet that read, “Tory Lanez was handcuffed in court and remanded to custody until he posts new bail of $350,000 in Megan Thee Stallion felony assault case.”
She continued, “judge found him in violation of discovery protective order and personal contact order.”
Giving further details about what happened, Dillon explained that Judge David Herriford “heard nearly an hour of argument about Lanez's tweets and said some "seem to be clear messages" to Megan.”
If Lanez can meet his bail of $350,000, he would have to fulfill another additional condition set by the judge before he can be released — the “Stupid Again” rapper is “ot to mention the complaining witness in this case in any social media.”
A trial date has since been set for September 14 with more details about Lanez’s arrest coming soon.
A Social Media War Between Megan And Lanez
The judge’s verdict was seemingly a result of the recent Twitter beef that went down between Lanez and Megan last month.
As The Blast covered, things between the estranged pals escalated when Lanez took to Twitter on February 23 and wrote, “Good d*** had me f***ing 2 best friends ... and I got caught ... that's what I apologized for ... it's sick how u Spun it tho.”
Per reports, the judge found the mention of “u” in the tweet to be a direct address to Megan which was a violation of the protective order.
In another tweet, the 29-year-old wrote, “I can’t buy and tweet your way out of this one…not today.”
The “Sweetest Pie” rapper who had been trying to keep the situation “off the internet” then responded to Lanez’s claim, sharing a screenshot of a text exchange where he was apologizing for shooting her in the foot. However, Lanez claimed the apology was for sleeping with her friend, Kelsey Harris.
Making matter worse, amid the exchange between Lanez and Megan, DJ Akademiks, an ardent supporter of the former shared a now-deleted tweet that read, “BREAKING: It was revealed in court few moments ago that Tory Lanez DNA WAS NOT found on the weapon in the Meg Thee Stallion case.”
It is believed that all of this caused the judge to find Lanez guilty of violating a protective order.
Not The First Violation
This isn’t the first time, Lanez has erred in his felony assault case. Back in August 2021, Lanez’s bail was increased after a judge found him guilty of infringing on the restraining order placed against him.

As The Blast reported, the rapper made a surprise appearance at DaBaBy’s controversial Rolling Loud Festival performance where Megan was also in attendance.
His bail was increased from $190 to $250 with the judge warning him to stay away from any event where Megan might be present to avoid further punishment.
