The Show Will Now Be Slightly Different

CBS also revealed that although the premise of the daytime talk show will be the same as in previous seasons, the format will be slightly different. They will now produce and distribute the show as two half-hour episodes that will "seamlessly run together back-to-back or be split apart to air separately."

According to the announcement, all CBS-owned TV stations will now also air new local newscasts that will lead into the first half-hour of Barrymore's show. This is a much smoother format, and fans are excited to see how it will play out.

Since the talk show's premiere in September 2020, it has quickly become the fastest-growing daytime talk show in the country and is one of the only two shows in this genre that gained total viewers from year to year.

Shortly before the talk show premiered in 2020, Barrymore had an interview with People magazine where she told them she was very excited to "be in a job where I don't have to play a character. I just get to be myself."

She also said that she loves the format because she "gets to do things that I care about," and added that "I get to share things that are important to me. I get to have conversations that are meaningful and grounded in reality. I get to bring comedy and humor."

The "Charlie's Angels" actress also said, "It's funny, I always say in late night, you get that permission because everybody lived their life and you did a good job. 'We're going to put you to bed with some laughs.' Uh-uh, I want to start the day that way."

She Says She Is Just A Part Of The Show

Despite the show being named after her and her being the host, Barrymore was adamant during her interview that she would not be called "boss" and that the show is much bigger than her.

She said, "I will never call this my show. This is not my show. I have never done anything in this life alone. You are just a kid sitting on your dreams alone in your space, and then you meet someone. And all of a sudden, the kindle and the spark happen, and then you talk to another person, and the flame gets a little bigger.

She concluded with, "That's how you build things. I'm just one part of this great engine we're building together." Barrymore has always credited CBS and the staff and celebrity guests for their roles in making the show the growing success it currently is.
