Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins passed away suddenly at a hotel in Columbia. He was only 50 years old. At this time, it is believed that his death is due to a cardiovascular collapse due to suspected drug use.
The band announced the news on Twitter on Friday night. “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins,” the band wrote in a brief statement. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”

Miley Cyrus was emotional when she performed “Angels Like You” for the late Taylor Hawkins. In the video, she can be seen tearing up. The “Wrecking Ball” singer was recently involved in a frightening ordeal when her plane was struck by lightening and they had to make an emergency landing while she and her screw were en route to the Asunciónico Music Festival in Paraguay, where the Foo Fighters had performed only a day before.
“We had to make this emergency landing and the first person I called was Taylor, because he was already at the festival,” Cyrus recalled. She and Hawkins had also worked together on their Billy Idol collaboration “Night Crawling” which was featured on her 2021 record “Plastic Hearts.”
“That would’ve been a time that I would’ve gone to see my friend, and I didn’t, so it makes me really sad,” she added.
“I would’ve done anything to hang out with him one more time,” she added. “I know that I get on stage, and anytime that I get to play with my band – which if anything ever f---ing happened to any of them it would f–f---ing kill me, so I couldn’t imagine how the Foo Fighters feel today.”
Many fans in the audience were crying as well. “I was so moved by her tribute to Taylor. It was very touching when she said she was supposed to see him but bc of what happened to her plane she wasn’t able to do so,” one fan commented.
She was not the only one to pay tribute to the late drummer and close friend. At a recent concert, Sir Elton John paid tribute to the late musician by dedicating a song to him at his recent performance.

On Saturday night, Sir Elton John was giving a performance in Des Moines, Iowa, as part of his farewell tour that is scheduled to conclude sometime in 2023. The musician has spent over six decades in the entertainment industry and was said to be friends with the late Taylor Hawkins.
During a recent concert, he dedicated his song “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” to the late drummer.
The lyrics of the song seemed extremely applicable, with John singing, “Too late to save myself from falling / I took a chance and changed your way of life / But you misread my meanin’ when I met you / Closed the door and left me blinded by the light.”
Elton John was far from the only musician who paid tribute to the late drummer. Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher also dedicated his song “Live Forever” to Hawkins on Saturday.

On Saturday night, Oasis performed at the Royal Albert Hall. Gallagher took a moment to dedicate the performance of “Live Forever” to Hawkins.
“I dedicate this last song to the one and only Taylor f---ing Hawkins,” he said before the song. A photograph of Hawkins appeared on the screen behind him. “This is for you, brother.”
Some fans were able to record a snippet of the song, which they shared on YouTube.
Gallagher was good friends with the Foo Fighters band. Frontman Dave Grohl recently called Gallagher “one of the few last remaining rock stars” in an interview shortly before Hawkins’ sudden death.
