There have been many awkward “Jeopardy!” moments over the years, especially in the Final Jeopardy! round when contestants simply can’t think of the right answer. That definitely happened on Monday, when two contestants accidentally insulted singer Diana Ross while giving their final answer.
Take a look at the recap of Monday’s episode to see how it all went down!

On Monday, Finn returned to defend his two-day total of $39,602 dollars against Karen, a member acquisition coordinator, and Margaret, an attorney.
The first round featured the categories: Picture Book, Boating Glossary, Dance Off, Bro!, 4-Letter Countries, Films of the 1990s, and Let Your Star Guide You. After the first round, Finn had $1,800, Margaret had $3,800, and Karen had $1,800 dollars.
The Double Jeopardy! round featured the categories: Groups In History, Seismic Activity, The Ancients Speak, Giving You A Plum Assignment, Childhood Homes, and 3 Letters in a Row Alphabetically. Going into the Final Jeopardy! round, Finn had $11,400, Margaret had $9,800, and Karen had $15,400 dollars.
The Final Jeopardy! category was “Singers.” The clue read: “In 2021 at age 95, this singer achieved a Guinness World Record for the oldest person to release an album of new material.”
Only Margaret provided a correct answer of “Who is Tony Bennett?”. Unfortunately, Finn and Karen both wrote down Diana Ross… who is only 77, not 95! Last year, Tony Bennett released “Love for Sale” in collaboration with Lady Gaga, which earned him the Guinness World Record.

Deepest apologies to the iconic Diana Ross!
I didn’t really think you were the answer, but was running out of time and had to put something! 😬😭#Jeopardy

Both “Jeopardy!” contestants took to Twitter to apologize to the former Supremes founder, who released a new album last year called “Thank You.” She also won a Guinness World Records title in 1993 for “Most Successful Female Singer of All Time.” However, she will be is not 95 and will actually be celebrating her 78th birthday tomorrow, March 26!
Karen tweeted, “I didn’t really think you were the answer, but was running out of time and had to put something! 😬😭.”
Finn also commented on the post to say, “Me too! I knew she was not nearly that old but better to write something than nothing. Just glad we’re in this together hahahaha.”
“At least y’all didn’t default to @DollyParton like I did playing along at home,” one fan pointed out.
“It was a fun episode to watch,” another fan wrote. “A close game & some pretty tough categories too in the previous rounds. Everyone did very well.”
Another fan pointed out that Ken’s “you’re seventy-five years younger than Tony Bennet” line was pretty funny.
“I was thinking Bob Dylan but I knew that could not have been it!!” another chimed in. “Knew he wasn’t that old either haha, that was a toughie!”
However, some fans were not all that nice about their honest gaff!

“You can look foolish together. The lame excuses don’t fly,” another wrote. “What an insult to a musical legend!”
“That’s just wrong,” another noted. “D--- Gen Xers!” Another user replied, “you think those 2 contestants are gen xers? The returning champion was born in the 2000s and the woman who put ross surely is a millennial.”
“How did 2 of you land on Diana Ross, though?” another asked. Another user replied, “That’s what I thought! Weird.”
Other fans expressed surprise that they hadn’t heard about Tony Bennett’s album with Lady Gaga, especially when they filmed his last-ever concert and aired it for the world to see in late 2021.
“I was surprised mainly because Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga had a much publicized duet album and they toured a few yrs ago,” another wrote.
“Yes, I was shocked they didn't make the connection from Gaga too,” said another. “My brain’s wired it hit on Tony anyway, but their friendship has been pretty well publicized.”
“Because I know you, I guess, my twitter is all about people commenting on Diana Ross/Jeopardy as if THEY COULD DO IT but also someone thought you were too young to know her bc you are ‘in your twenties,’ so...congrats on your youthful glow and well done,” another wrote.
