Actor Christopher Lloyd is famous for his role as Dr. Emmett ‘Doc’ Brown in the “Back to the Future” trilogy. He’s also won two Emmy Awards for appearing as Jim Ignatowski in the comedy series “Taxi.”
Lloyd has taken part in so many fantastic roles over the years that it’s hard to keep track of them all, but “Star Wars” fans aren’t going to forget about the time that he was cast in season 3 of the Disney+ live-action series “The Mandalorian.”

On Friday night, The Hollywood Reporter made many fans' dreams come true when they revealed that the “Back to the Future” actor was going to be playing a role in the third season of “The Mandalorian,” which is currently filming in Southern California.
Although plot details are being kept tightly under wraps at this time, it looks like he will have more a guest-starring role than a reoccurring one. This wouldn’t be the first time that “The Mandalorian” had brought on a legendary actor, as “The Terminator” star Michael Biehn also made a memorable appearance in the show’s second season.
“The Mandalorian” is executively produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. The show first launched in November 2019 to the fledgling Disney+ streaming service and provided a massive booth in subscriber growth. After two successful seasons, the spin-off show “The Book of Boba Fett” debuted in December 2021 and wrapped up earlier this year. The titular Mandalorian, Din Djarin, played by “Game of Thrones” alum Pedro Pascal, made an appearance in the show’s fifth episode. By the finale, he was reunited with Grogu, affectionately known to fans as Baby Yoda, and set the stage for what fans can expect in the show’s third season.
No release date for the show has yet to be revealed, but there are plenty of other “Star Wars” shows that are planned for 2022 and beyond, such as the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series that will be making its debut on May 25, 2022.

Although fans have their fingers crossed that they will get to see season 3 of “The Mandalorian” by the end of 2022, one thing they do know for sure is that the six-episode limited series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” will make making its debut on May 25, 2022 – exactly 45 years to the day after “A New Hope” premiered in theaters.
Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi from the prequel series. The character of Obi-Wan Kenobi was portrayed by the late Sir Alec Guinness in “A New Hope.” Hayden Christensen will also be reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader.
In addition to McGregor and Christensen, the show will also feature Marvel’s “Eternals” actor Kumail Nanjiani, “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” star Sung Kang, “The Queen’s Gambit” actress Moses Ingram, “The King” actor Joel Edgerton, and “Den of Thieves” actor O’Shea Jackson Jr.
The limited series will also feature Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse reprising their roles as Uncle Owen Lars and Aunt Beru, respectively. The show is helmed by Deborah Chow, who directed two episodes in the first season of “The Mandalorian.”
The limited series is set to take place ten years after “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith,” when Kenobi defeated his Skywalker apprentice and left him for dead. Anakin became Darth Vader after he was rescued by Emperor Palpatine, and Kenobi went into hiding on Tatooine to watch over a young Luke Skywalker.

There’s about a 19-year time gap between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope” which means that Luke Skywalker is still growing up. The young Luke Skywalker will be played by Grant Feely.
Luke Skywalker, who has been portrayed by Mark Hamill in the original and sequel trilogy, seemed to approve the casting of his younger self, tweeting, “Grant Feely looks like a perfect Luke Skywalker and I am wishing him all the very best! #The ForceIsWithFreely.”
