Following the debut of her futuristic movie feature “The Adam Project,” actor Zoe Saldana is already looking forward to watching herself in “Avatar 2.” The 39-year had undergone months of intensive training sessions for the upcoming film.
Saldana and her other cast members needed to learn how to hold their breaths for long minutes underwater, achieving this goal by taking deep dives with their marine trainers. As the film slowly approaches its premiere date, fans are gearing up to hit the cinemas for another masterpiece from James Cameron.
Saldana has now hinted that viewers are in for an emotional thrill, saying she was moved to tears after watching footage of the fantasy thriller.
‘I Was Moved To Tears’
In her chat with journalist Kevin McCarthy while speaking about her latest movie, “The Adam Project,” the actress admitted that watching an unreleased footage from “Avatar 2” mushed her up.
"I was speechless…I was moved to tears."

The actress added: “I can get choked up just talking about it because I was able to see just 20 minutes of the second installment, right before the year ended, last year, and I was speechless,” adding “I was moved to tears.”
Saldana’s sentiments about the film came from the level of demanding work director Cameron had invested in making the scenes that needed performance capture underwater. She further revealed that Cameron had spent years trying to crack the technique and that the result was “powerful and compelling.”
“Avatar 2” comes 12 years after the release of the first installment and is also the first of four sequels that will be produced over the next four years. The film’s production suffered several setbacks, including technical issues, script changes, and a brief shutdown due to the pandemic.
Zoe Saldana Played Neytiri In ‘Avatar’

In “Avatar,” Saldana played Neytiri, a Na’vi figure from an alien species. She taught earthling Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) about her people’s traditions and later fell in love with him. After helping the clan fight off a human attack, Sully and Neytiri’s mother, Mo’at (Carol Pounder), then became the new leaders of the Omaticaya (the Na’vi clan in the plot) at the end of the first film, and he permanently transfers his mind into his avatar.
The storyline for the sequel backdrops on Sully and Neytiri having started a family. The duo is hell-bent on doing all to stay together despite the differences in their origin. However, they are compelled to leave their home and explore the many regions of Pandora when an old menace returns to destroy all they have built.
‘Avatar 2’ Cast
Alongside the trio of Saldana, Pounder, and Worthington, several other casts from the first installment will make a return in the sequel. Fans will see Giovanni Ribisi reprise his role as Parker Selfridge, Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman, a xenoanthropologist, and Dileep Rao as Dr. Max Patel, a scientist who helped pioneer the Avatar program.
Late last year, “Titanic” star Kate Winslet confirmed to the public that she would debut in the fantasy thriller. At the time, she revealed that she learned how to hold her breath for more than seven minutes underwater and was also taught how to free dive.
Other cast members include Jamie Flatters, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo, Matt Gerald, and Jack Champion.
More ‘Avatar’ Sequels In The Works
While filming of “Avatar 2” is 100 percent complete, the showrunners are yet to reveal the sequel’s title. Fans expect more details about the film will be released in the coming months, alongside an official trailer.
The “Avatar” franchise also expands to include three more sequels after the second installment hits the cinema. Avatar 3 began filming simultaneously with Avatar 2 in New Zealand and was confirmed by Cameron to be “95%” complete.
The showrunners have also greenlit the fourth and fifth installments, although the filming process will start only after the premiere of “Avatar 2 & 3.”
“Avatar 2” will be released in theaters on December 16.
