Kandi Burruss is speaking up about the alleged racism on the set of the "Real Housewives Of Atlanta" claimed by her co-star NeNe Leakes.
Leakes, an OG Housewife alongside Leakes, claimed that Andy Cohen and the Bravo team were racist towards her, causing her dramatic exit from the show after season 12.
NeNe Leakes Accused Bravo Of Racism, Urged Fans To Boycott Show
In September 2020, Leakes shocked fans when she announced she wasn’t returning for season 13 of the hit reality show.
She was an original housewife present for the first seven seasons, before a brief exit in 2016, an eventual return in 2017, and then another exit in 2020.
At the time, Leakes gracefully bowed out of the show, saying, "It wasn’t an easy decision for me. It was hard. I’m just so happy that I can say that I was a part of a genre that opened up doors for Black ensemble reality shows. I want to thank everybody that has looked up to me over the years.”
Shockingly months after her exit, Leakes began expressing her displeasure with Bravo. As The Blast reported, in a Twitter rant, the reality star called for fans to boycott “RHOA.”
“Y’all ready to start this boycott yet? What has happened behind the scenes is WRONG! While others were being promoted, BLACK WOMEN who created shows, created genres, built franchise and built networks were being DEMOTED … TURN OFF YOUR TV’S,” she wrote.
Leakes didn’t get into details about what went on behind the scenes, but she also urged her followers to boycott Cohen’s New Year’s Eve countdown broadcast that year.
“Be Smart and DO NOT SUPPORT count down shows TONIGHT that aren’t supporting or respecting BLACK WOMEN creativity/equality and blacklisting us from working if we speak the truth abt their wrongdoings,” Leakes tweeted at the time.
She even went as far as to build a case against Bravo for “unfair treatment” asking her fans to direct her to someone that works in the US Department of Equal Employment Opportunity in California, New York, or Georgia.
Leakes is yet to make her return back to the reality show, but it’s unsure if things ever got settled between her and the Bravo Team.
Kandi Burruss Denies Claims Of Racism
Now, two years after Leakes’ allegations, her “RHOA” co-star Burruss is speaking out about the racism claims, calling it a blatant lie.
Burruss appeared on a recent episode of SiriusXM Urban View’s “The Clay Cane Show,” to promote her new reality show and shared her thoughts on Leakes’ racism claims.
”Realistically, I don't agree… Everybody can have their own opinion. I did not agree,” Burruss shared.
She continued, explaining that Leakes would always boast to everyone that she was the highest-paid on “RHOA.” However, Burruss stated, “You can't brag about being paid the most out of anybody and then say that they're not treating you right."
The Xscape group member then dished on how the show has done well to make sure all the women earned adequately.
In her words, “I know, a lot of the women, especially at that time – now we got a lot of new people, it's not as many of us left on the show – but at that time, we still had like, four or five of us, who had been there for a while, making some real good money.”
Burruss declared that it was never a case of one person doing well while the others weren’t. She concluded, “it’s certain things that you may not like, certain things that you may want to try to do better, but, overall, to say that they were racist – I didn't agree with that at all.”
The Fate Of ‘RHOA’ Season 14
Burruss’ revelation about Leakes comes days after she opened up about the fate of season 14 of “Real Housewives of Atalanta” without some main members.

As you might know, it’s been sealed that OG Housewives like Cynthia Bailey and Porsha Williams won’t be returning for the new season.
Despite viewers’ fears that things won’t be the same on the reality show, Burruss assured that it will be better than ever.
She said, “They are definitely loved by the fans, and coming into this, I was kind of nervous doing it without them. But it turns out that we needed this change on this show. We needed to mix things up and it turned out really, really great.”
