Amanda Bynes detailed her amazing recovery in legal documents to terminate her conservatorship, including evidence she is no longer suffering from any “thought disorders.”
In the filing, obtained by The Blast, the actress is asking the court to end her ongoing conservatorship and is armed with specific evidence and medical documents proving she is ready for the transition.
To start, Bynes included a “capacity declaration” signed by a psychiatrist outlining her amazing turn-around from being hospitalized under a 5150 psychiatric hold to her current condition.
“Ms. Bynes has no apparent impairment in alertness and attention, information and processing, or ability to modulate mood and affect, and suffers no thought disorders,” the filing reads.
Amanda Bynes Is Able To Make Her Own Medical Decisions Says Court Documents
It continues, “Ms. Bynes’ psychiatrist further opines that Ms. Bynes has the capacity to give informed consent to any form of medical treatment.”
In the documents, Amanda’s attorneys outline the amazing recovery with details of her day-to-day activities including being an outstanding student at FIDM in Los Angeles.
“Ms. Bynes is a student at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Bynes’ FIDM transcript indicates she consistently earns above-average grades,” it reads. It should be noted, the filing includes several of Amanda’s report cards which proves the outstanding work.
Also, the filing outlines Amanda’s home life and transition from hospitalization to living on her own. “Ms. Bynes has been living in a structured community for women since 2020. Initially, Mrs. Bynes lived in a transitional house where she practiced daily life skills, tended to her therapeutic needs, prepared for integration into a productive lifestyle, and worked towards developing a sustainable routine.”
Amanda Bynes ‘Consistently’ Tests Negative For Any Illicit Drugs
It continues, “In 2021 Ms. Bynes transitioned to the apartment community, which offers an independent living environment for women posed to transition into an autonomous lifestyle. The independent living apartment provides continuous accountability through ongoing random toxicology screenings, weekly apartment checks, and a weekly case management session with her case manager.”
In a bid to terminate the conservatorship, the document states, “The case manager in the community reports Ms. Bynes consistently tests negative for illicit substances in her system. Ms. Bynes desires to live free of any constraint.”
Amanda’s request concludes with the simple statement, “Ms. Bynes contends her condition has improved, and protection of the court is no longer necessary.”
As we reported, Amanda’s mother (currently one of her conservators) is supporting the transition and petition for termination and filed legal documents outlining reasons for this decision.
Lynne Bynes Fully Supports Amanda’s Bid To End Conservatorship
Lynn Bynes’ response explains she is making this decision, “in light of and solely based on the capacity declaration” signed by Amanda’s doctors, saying she suffers from no “thought disorders” and is able to “give informed consent to medical treatment” — saying point blank, “Lynn Bynes does not object to the termination of this conservatorship.”
It should be noted, the legal documents also detail the transfer of Amanda’s fortune to a trust which will be handled by her attorney. Up until this moment, it has been protected by the court and conservators against undue influence or spending.
This is a far cry from where Amanda Bynes was just a few years ago. The 35-year-old actress was hospitalized back in 2013, on an involuntary psychiatric hold for reportedly starting a small fire in a stranger’s driveway. At the time, Amanda took to Twitter and said she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a month after the incident.
Amanda Bynes Might Be Free From Restraints In Less Than One Week!
In August of 2013, a judge placed her under a conservatorship, giving her mother full control over her personal, medical, and financial affairs. For several years, she was in and out of mental health facilities and battled addiction.
A lawyer for the actress issued a statement regarding the filing, saying, “Amanda wishes to terminate her conservatorship. She believes her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary.”
If a judge agrees, Amanda could be completely free of the conservatorship in less than one week!
