DaBaby's lawyer has responded to the recent lawsuit filed by DaniLeigh's brother, Brandon Bills, dismissing it as baseless. The rapper and his ex-girlfriend's brother got in a heated brawl earlier this week.
DaniLeigh's Brother Sued DaBaby For Assault
As The Blast previously covered, DaBaby and Brandon got into a fight at a Los Angeles bowling alley during Super Bowl weekend.
The nasty exchange was covered in a viral clip, with Brandon being beaten mercilessly by DaBaby and his crew in the middle of the bowling lanes as they all slipped and slid down the lane.
Shortly after, Brandon filed a lawsuit, alleging the "BOP" rapper of assault and battery. DaniLeigh's brother claimed in the legal documents that DaBaby and his crew attacked him when he walked by in the bowling alley. However, he also alleged that he didn't retaliate, as evident in the video as the rapper and his team pounded on him.
Brandon is suing for assault, battery, emotional distress, and negligence, claiming that the attack resulted, in "physical and psychological damage." DaBaby, however, has maintained that he only attacked Brandon in self-defense.
The Los Angeles authorities have expressed interest in the viral beatdown and are investigating on the basis of assault with a deadly weapon after DaBaby was seen in the clip kicking his baby mama's brother in the head while he was down.
DaBaby's Lawyer Fires Back At Brandon
Following the lawsuit, DaBaby's attorney Drew Findling spoke to TMZ, saying that Brandon had no basis to sue the rapper, brandishing it an attempt to grab some cash from his client.
" It's is offensive that this alleged victim threatened and instigated violence and has now used this incident to make a quick money grab," Findling remarked.
Findling stands by DaBaby's claim that Brandon was the first one to attack, bringing to mind his public threat against the rapper.
Last November, Brandon when approached by the paparazzi said he wanted to get in a fight with DaBaby for how he treated his sister.
He challenged DaBaby to a public fight, saying next time the rapper comes to the West Coast, they would get their hands dirty. Brandon requested a boxing match and bragged about knocking DaBaby out in the ring.
He even went as far as saying he could bet $200,000 on the fight and uploaded clips of his boxing skills on social media.
DaBaby's lawyer believes Brandon's previous threat nullifies his lawsuit and wants the Los Angeles authorities to pay no mind to the lawsuit. He advised that they stop wasting their time with the criminal investigation, saying, "Garbage like this has no place adding to the backlog and wasting law enforcement time and energy."
It All Started With DaniLeigh's Domestic Dispute
Brandon's problem with DaBaby started when the famous rapper and DaniLeigh had a heated argument at his North Carolina home.
The domestic violence was documented on DaBaby's Instagram Live, with the former couple exchanging words and calling each other names. DaBaby kicked the singer out of his home and released a statement about removing himself from the "hostile behavior" displayed in the livestream.
Many fans supported Dani in the scuffles, saying DaBaby went to drastic lengths to hurt his baby mama. However, authorities taught otherwise when they charged DaniLeigh was simple assault.
The "Cravin" singer was charged with two misdemeanors after evidence showed that she physically struck the rapper. DaniLeigh's mom also weighed in on the matter calling their relationship "toxic."
