“Talking Dead” host and pop culture connoisseur Chris Hardwick and his wife, model and actor Lydia Hearst, welcomed their first child on Saturday night. Dimity Facente Hearst-Hardwick was born a few weeks early after doctors determined she was ready to make an early entrance into the world.
Proud Papa Hardwick shared a picture of the newborn baby girl from the delivery room as Hearst looked on lovingly (and tiredly) from the operating table.
“Lyds loved this picture so much she requested I post it to let everyone know that she and baby are doing great!” he wrote.

Chris Hardwick Calls Birth ‘Humbling and Inspiring’
Hardwick has nothing but awe and praise for his wife after her pregnancy journey. “The experience of watching Lydia go through pregnancy and give birth to our sweet little peanut was humbling and inspiring. She is an absolute warrior and I am grateful, blessed, and honored! The first moment seeing and hearing our child after all this time is indelibly imprinted onto my soul. Holy crap this whole process is amazing!”
He went on to say that Baby Dimity was supposed to be delivered via c-section on February 9, but the baby had other ideas. “The baby’s development had plateaued, the placenta had hardened, her fluid reserves were low, and she was breech so they took her out a wee bit early at just over 37 weeks.”
Despite the baby’s early arrival, all’s well that ends well. “Lyds is happy, Dimity is perfect and I am over the moon with love for the both of them,” he added.
Hardwick and Hearst’s Famous Friends Share Their Delight Over Birth
Hardwick, known for hosting “The Walking Dead” after show “Talking Dead” on AMC, is well known to pop culture fans. The former host of the “Nerdist” podcast is a frequent moderator at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H panels, connecting him to some of the biggest franchises in Hollywood.
Actor Tom Payne, known for his role as Jesus on “The Walking Dead,” was one of the first to congratulate Hardwick and Hearst. A new father himself, he knows what’s in store for Hardwick in these early days. “Congrats man! We’re almost 4 weeks in here. It’s been a wild ride so far! Love to you both!”
“Fear the Walking Dead” star Colman Domingo sent a handful of red heart emojis in celebration of the little one’s arrival.
Hardwick’s long-time friend Wil Wheaton, star of “Stand By Me” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” also chimed in: “Holy shit you made a human.”
Baby Hearst-Hardwick Arrives Day After Shopping Trip
On Friday, just one day before Baby Dimity made her debut, Hardwick and Hearst were enjoying one of the perks of pregnancy: up-close parking.
Hardwick posted a picture with Hearst in front of a sign that the two-hour parking spot was reserved for expectant mothers.

“That’s some pretty sweet parking for this expectant mother,” he wrote. “37 weeks so far. Almost there!!!”
Little did they know, their daughter would arrive the following day. Happy and healthy, it looks like Baby Dimity was ready to make her entrance on her own terms!
