Singer Taylor Swift has some bad blood with Damon Albarn!
The “Gorillaz” frontman recently trashed Taylor in a new interview with The Los Angeles Times while promoting his new album “The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows.” In the interview, he said that he feels more “exposed” doing stripped-back sets, as opposed to performing with a full band.
“You learn whether the songs are any good or whether they were popular at the time because of the sound and the attitude,” he said.
When the interviewer suggested that Swift was an “excellent songwriter,” Albarn had some harsh words for the “You Belong With Me” singer.
Albarn Claims That Swift Does NOT Write Her Own Songs!
When it was suggested that Swift writes her own songs, Albarn insisted “that doesn’t count” and claimed that Swift was merely a co-writer.
“That doesn’t count,” he said. “I know what co-writing is. Co-writing is very different to writing.”
“I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes,” he added. “Doesn’t mean that the outcome can’t be really great.”
Although he may not be a fan of Swift’s work, he is apparently a fan of “Happier Than Ever” artist Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas.
“And some of the greatest singers – I mean, Ella Fitzgerald never wrote a song in her life,” he continued. “When I sing, I have to close my eyes and just be in there. I suppose I’m a traditionalist in that sense.”
“A really interesting songwriter is Billie Eilish and her brother,” he added. “I’m more attracted to that than to Taylor Swift. It’s just darker – less endlessly upbeat. Way more minor and odd. I think she’s exceptional.”

PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering 😑

Shortly after the interview was posted, Taylor Swift retweeted the article to her Twitter account.
“@DamonAlbarn I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this,” she wrote. “I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f—ed up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.”
She followed it up by writing, “PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering.”
The tweet gained almost 90,000 likes in almost 20 minutes. Grindr jumped into the comments section to write, “GET HER JADE.”
“Your songs are written by Taylor Swift and he was ended by Taylor Swift,” wrote comedian Alex Goldschmidt.
Actor Cameron McKendry commented, “Don’t worry queen. He’s mad cause majority of people are just now finding out who he is because you tweeted at him.”
Writer Ryan Schocket wrote, “People are seriously doubting your songwriting in 2022……..” alongside several yawn-emojis.
The Perez Hilton personal account commented, “And for all you doubters, I remind you of this grand era! #SpeakNow! Taylor wrote EVERY SINGLE SONG by herself. No co-writers.”
“AMEN!” a fan replied. “She sure f—ing did! She is one of the very few artists I listen to that I know who write their own songs without any help or very little help with writing their own songs and music!
