Pete Davidson Just Might Host The Oscars This Year

The year just started and things are already picking up for Pete Davidson, who apparently is being eyed as the host for this year's Oscar ceremony.
His Team Is Reportedly In 'Negotiations'
The title for the 2022 Oscars host is up for grabs as the search is on. This will mark the first time the show will have a host since 2018, which means whoever is chosen has some huge shoes to fill. It looks like Davidson is one of the contenders to enter the spotlight and join the legendary list of past hosts as it seems the producers for the 94th annual ceremony are 'in talks' with Davidson's team.
“His people are talking to producers,” a source told Page Six. It seems the show is looking for a "reset" in order to gravitate to a younger audience the source also expressed. To add to Davidson's case, the source shared the ratings for Davidson's appearance with Miley Cyrus for the New Year’s Eve special - bringing in 6.3 million viewers.
“He gets a demographic that is hard to get,” the source said of Davidson’s appeal. “He is in a good space, his career is doing well and he is on the rise. He is a sex symbol, unlikely, but he is big with a certain generation.”
The SNL actor continues to grace the headlines as of late due to his high-profile relationship with Kim Kardashian, who could be securing his spot as stepdaddy as he is beginning to form a bond with her children.
The Oscars Are Also Eyeing Tim Holland
Davidson isn't the only star the Oscars are eyeing. Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland is also in the running to secure the hosting gig. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 25-year-old expressed he would be interested in hosting.
“I just wanted to quickly backtrack on what I said," said Holland.
"You asking me about the Oscars — you’re the first person to bring that up — and I’m sitting here going, ‘Of course, I would host the fucking Oscars!’ I just went to the bathroom and I was looking at myself in the mirror and I was like, ‘What kind of fucking idiot wouldn’t host the Oscars?’ So yeah, if they ask me to, I would, and it would be very fun. I would really enjoy it.”
When asked if he would be interested in hosting the festivities with a partner or solo, it doesn't seem to matter to the actor.
“Either/or. I don’t mind," he told the outlet.
"By myself would be great, and with someone I love would be even better. I think a shared experience is always better than a solo experience. I’m happy with either, but it would be a very fun evening — I’m sure very stressful, but it would be a lot of fun.” I couldn’t resist one last follow-up: Does he think he could convince Zendaya to do it with him? “I could run it by her. But as for her answer, I’m not too sure.”
