Is The Weeknd Dropping His Next Studio Album?

The release date of the Weeknd's latest album continues to be the billion-dollar question on fans' minds and the "Blinding Lights" singer's recent posts aren't helping.

On Sunday, January 2, the 31-year-old entertainer shared a picture of the sun's beautiful rays penetrating through a yard filled with lush green trees. This heartwarming scenery was captioned, "Wake up at dawn tomorrow…"

This ambiguous statement seemed to imply that the album would be dropping on Monday, January 3 as the AMA winner previously revealed he was ready to release "The Dawn."

A day before this cryptic post, the "Earned It" singer shared a screenshot of the conversation between him and La Mar Taylor, the co-founder of XO Records on New Year's Day.

In their text message exchange, the Canadian heartthrob stated that he wished to drop the whole album rather than go through a traditional "album rollout." In his words:

"Happy new year! Everything feels chaotic again. Music can heal and that feels more important than another album rollout. Let's just drop the whole thing and enjoy it with the people...XO."

It appeared that fans weren't the only ones looking forward to The Weeknd's latest album as the R&B star can't wait to release his next chart-topping tracks.

The Weeknd Received Three Nominations For 2022's Grammys

The "Can't Feel My Face" singer's fallout with the Grammys committee has finally ended as The Blast previously reported that the 31-year-old received three nominations for this year's award ceremony.

Last year, The Weeknd was surprisingly snubbed by the organization with zero nominations despite having a successful season filled with several chart-topping songs.

At the time, the record producer called out the Grammys on Twitter for being "corrupt" and further showcased his displeasure by boycotting the prestigious event.

The "Save Your Tears" singer's actions must have gotten through to the committee as he received three nominations including the Award of the Year category.

Despite being snubbed by the Grammys, the entertainer's 2021 was filled with several milestones — from performing at the Super Bowl LV to breaking records with his "Blinding Lights" song.

In the US, the hit track became a certified 8x platinum song and it was also named Billboard's No. 1 Hot 100 song of all-time, beating Chubby Checker's 1960 classic song "The Twist."

The speculations intensified following several other dinner dates, however, the rumored couple has claimed that their relationship was simply platonic.
