Following those surprising snubs, The Weeknd officially began his Grammy boycott, as he didn’t submit any things, for the 2022 awards show. Despite this, the Grammy committee still decided to nominate him, for three awards. These include two, for Album of The Year.
Many fans now believe that this is an effort by the GRAMMYs, in order to win one of the biggest stars in the world back. The Weeknd had an epic 2020, and the fact that he wasn’t nominated at all, definitely appeared to hint that there was an issue, against him. There was also speculation that CBS didn’t want Weeknd to perform at both the GRAMMYs and Super Bowl, due to concerns of duplicate performances.
