From the point of view of the "Emily In Paris" star, Lucas Bravo being famous isn't all glamorous as people have made it out to be. The actor quickly rose to fame after the movie debuted on Netflix in October 2020.

He won hearts when he played French chef Gabriel in the first season. In the series second season, he returned with more romantic tension with his love interest, Emily.

Although Lucas Bravo had his skill to play in his success, he alluded to most of the roles he took on to his good looks. "You can't be aesthetically beautiful and be smart or have depth. I kept getting roles like the dumb gym teacher," he explained. "It's hard to break that image. I'm not complaining, of course, but it's a reality."

His role in the movie also compounded his frustration to be taken seriously. "I'm, like, this objectified overnight thing," he whined.

He also noted that being the fan's "sweetheart" has suddenly made him "self-aware." "Because when you think about that word and the people it encapsulates, you always see a healthy, good-looking, ripped person — and I'm not that. While I am healthy, the little things that define who you are and make you human can be perceived as flaws by society."

He Regrets Being Famous

The "Emily In Paris" star recently opened up to The Times that he felt his ascent felt rushed. "I think being famous is the worst thing that can happen to you. It's just smoke. It doesn't mean anything."

He also spoke of his career in the same interview. "I've been working for this for ten years, feeling like you're going in the right direction. Then, I was just like a heartthrob overnight. It feels a bit rushed. Too much attention for the quality of work I provided."

Bravo prefers to be out of the spotlight. While he spoke to Vanity Fair, he explained that "there's no world in which I feel comfortable in front of a wall of flashes."

Instead, he preferred to hike on the island of Corsica, where his mother lives.

"You lie on the grass, the cows and wild horses, the lakes, where you can bathe naked, and the stars are. It's perfect to disconnect, no service," Bravo disclosed. "It's my spot."

After the first season of the movie, Bravo appeared in other films on the big screen. Two of his upcoming projects, "Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris" and "The Honeymoon' are already in post-production. Another, "Ticket To Paradise," is being filmed.

How Does He Feel About Being Gabriel?

When he spoke about the movie, he talked about layered his character was.

"I think he's having the time of his life where he's a little lost," he told "Manny the Movie Guy." "He wants to make it on his own. He doesn't want any help, and at the same time, he has responsibilities, and he feels a little emasculated by Camille."

He also mentioned that he shared some similarities with his character. He knew his way around the kitchen and could cook some of the meals in real life.

"I used to be a sous chef in a restaurant a few years ago," the actor noted. "So when I first got the scripts, I was like, 'Oh, wow, this is definitely for me, I'm going to use those skills.' And so they made me cook the omelets I made for Emily in the show."

He addressed the uproar the series was getting for its depiction of French culture. From his point of view, it was accurate. The show's creator lived in France for a long time and was familiar with its daily life. "It's true, you know," began Bravo. "Darren experienced it because he lived in Paris and spoke French. And so, it's not just a guess from an American perspective. It's from someone who lived it. So I like the fact that he found all those little points that sometimes we don't see because we're inside of it."
