Just when we thought that we’d seen it all with COVID the new Omicron variant is literally wreaking havoc across the world.
In the United States the NHL has essentially been the first major corporation to start canceling events due to COVID concerns. Across the pond where her Majesty Queen Elizabeth reigns things are looking very grim in regard to COVID. Premier League soccer matches are getting canceled left and right.
At this point the Queen’s Christmas plans are also in jeopardy. With reports indicating that Her Majesty has already decided to scrap some of her favorite holiday traditions from the calendar.
What’s On & What’s Off The Royals Holiday To-do List?
After all, this is going to be her first Christmas without Prince Philip. People around Her Majesty wanted to make sure that things went great. Sadly COVID had other plans. So far the Queen has scrapped the traditional pre-Christmas lunch.
This may also include removing another tradition from the calendar. Attending a Christmas service. However, the family is still hopeful that they’ll be able to spend a holiday break at their Sandringham estate.
The Age Of The People In The Family Was Certainly Something The Queen Took Into Consideration
Obviously, the Queen at 95 years young is part of potentially the highest at risk group when it comes to the disease. Even though she’s fully vaccinated she’s not taking any chances. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Duchess of Cornwall are in their mid to early 70s. Charles already beat COVID once he may not be keen to go through it again. The Duke and Duchess of Kent who are very close to the Queen are in their mid to late 80s. Therefore, the concern was certainly enough to cancel the event altogether.
