Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit the Royal Family in spectacular fashion at the begging of 2020. Now, almost a couple of years removed from their decision the still Duke and Duchess of Sussex don’t seem to regret it one bit. In fact, Harry is doubling down and advising folks to quit their jobs if they’re not happy. Which, in fairness to Harry may not be the worst advice that he’s given out since he left the royals. That being said, regular folks may not have as smooth of a transition as he has had. Going from getting an allowance from his Dad, and his grandmother to a huge Netflix deal certainly allowed Harry to land on his feet in his new independent life.
What Prince Harry Is Suggesting Is Already A Quite A Trend
According to a stat published by CNBC by September of this year more than 34 million people had quit their jobs! With a few more months left to go in the year at that point it was pretty clear that this year we’d probably surpass the 36 million folks who quit their jobs in all of 2020. Looking at those numbers it does seem that what Harry is suggesting isn’t that farfetched. People are actually already doing it. Harry mentioned on this trend of people quitting their jobs in a recent interview,
“Many people around the world have been stuck in jobs that didn’t bring them joy, and now they’re putting their mental health and happiness first. This is something to be celebrated.”
Prince Harry Is Part of An Organization That Promotes These Types of Decisions
In March Prince Harry was handed the role of CIO (Chief Impact Officer, yeah we didn’t know that was a thing either) in a tech startup called BetterUp. The company focuses on providing coaching and mental health services to both businesses and the general public. Currently, the company is valued at 4.7 billion dollars. Prince Harry was reportedly a big part in helping the company raise 300 million dollars back in October. Harry believes that we are currently in a period of “mental health awakening”. In the interview that we previously referenced with Fast Company. Harry said about this particular concept,
“We’re just at the beginning of the mental health awakening. This work has never been more important because people are finally paying attention, and a big component of this mission is building awareness and continuing to pioneer the conversation.”
Will The Still Duke of Sussex Ever Return To His Old Job?
Although Harry is essentially telling folks to quit their jobs if they’re not happy he’s not giving out advice on speaking out against your former employer. He hasn’t necessarily excelled in that department. Although it’s pretty clear that Harry won’t return to work as a full time royal his problem is obviously that his former employers are also his family members. Certainly he’s made family gatherings rather awkward for himself. The good thing for he and Meghan Markle is that they won’t be seeing the royals soon. With the couple potentially not booking a trip to the UK until the summer of 2022!
