Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom Reportedly Had Different Favorite Baby Name Ideas

By Clark Sparky

Katy Perry and her fiance Orlando Bloom are the proud parents of a new baby girl after she gave birth on Wednesday, but the newborn almost had a different name than the one the couple announced. They ultimately agreed on the name Daisy Dove, but a source close to the situation told Us Weekly that Bloom had a different front-runner in mind initially.

“Katy won the battle over baby’s name,” the source told the outlet. “She was pulling for the moniker Daisy, but Orlando liked Fiona.”

Bloom and his ex Miranda Kerr share 9-year-old son Flynn and he reportedly thought Fiona sounded nice alongside Flynn.

Earlier this month, a different source had explained that they were leaning towards naming the baby Daisy, but had yet to officially decide on the moniker.

“She likes the name Daisy because daisies are her favorite flowers, simple, pure and sunny,” the source said at the time. “She is also fond of the name Grace Ann. Ann after her grandmother, whose name was Ann Pearl.”

The birth of baby Daisey was done through UNICEF as a way to raise money and awareness for the organization.

“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” Bloom and Perry wrote in a social media post on UNICEF's account. “In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a [UNICEF] donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival. By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your heart can bloom with generosity.”

Just days before she gave birth, Perry opened up to "Entertainment Tonight" about how excited she was to raise her kids differently than how she was.

"I am just excited to be able to raise her in a different way than what I was raised and to let her think for herself and have choice and discover and just lean into the magic in life and dress like whatever she wants to dress like for Halloween," Perry said.

She added, "That is going to be really, really important. I was never allowed to go trick-or-treating or dress up, which is probably why I make up for it so much."

Beyond the birth of her first child, it's been a big week for Perry professionally. On Friday, she released her new full-length studio album, Smile. Perry described the new music as full of "light and joy."

"I'm just grateful that I get to do it this summer. It's a summer record and it's full of hopefulness, it's full of light and joy and it's not just taking up space and noise," she said.
