If you were preparing to see Wendy Williams sit on her purple throne in the new year, looks like you're going to have to wait a little bit longer like the rest of us.
Press Release Details
In a press release, it's been announced 'The Wendy Williams Show' will return in the new year with new episodes featuring guest hosts.
“We’re looking forward to producing new and exciting shows in 2022 and we can’t wait to return in the new year with all of our guest hosts," said EP David Perler. “Each of the outstanding guest hosts brings a unique and distinctive style to the successful ‘Wendy' format with their individual personalities while also making sure that Wendy’s show remains consistent for the loyal Wendy watchers.”
Guest Hosts In The New Year
To kick off the new year, rap icons Fat Joe and Remy Ma will appear as hosts from January 3rd through January 7th to give you all of your entertainment and gossip needs. Sherri Shepherd will take center stage once more in the purple chair from January 24th through January 28th. We previously reported Shepherd's appearance as a fill-in for Williams saw the show uptick 13 percent in ratings. Perler has expressed she was the "perfect fit" for the show.
He shared Shepherd “engages our viewers with her relatable conversations and unique point of view on the hottest topics.”
Wendy Williams Will Not Return As Host
The Sun also reported a source told them production will announce early next year that Williams will permanently leave her hosting gig due to suffering from serious health issues. The source also told the outlet the unofficial motto is "new year, new show" and Shepherd is the lead choice to take over the show and become the permanent host, saying the job is “Sherri’s to lose. She is the number one choice.”
Other guest hosts to sit in the chair next month are Michael Rapaport, Kym Whitley, and Finesse Mitchell.
Wendy's Health Issues
Curious to know how's Wendy's health is doing?
In a clip shared by The Shade Room last week, the 57-year-old was seen leaving a Miami Wellness Center. When asked about her thoughts on her show being canceled, the gossip icon didn't share a comment. She did, however, share that she's "doing fabulous" and fans can expect "a lot of Wendy stuff" coming our way.
