Singer Britney Spears is turning 40 today!

The “Gimme More” singer was born in McComb, Mississippi on December 2, 1981.

This is a big year for Britney, who was recently freed for a 13-year conservatorship. In an Instagram post, Britney revealed that she was going away for her birthday. She posted a sweet snap with fiancé Sam Asghari, writing, “Me and my fiancé are so excited to be going away” and adding “God thank you for being able to go out of the country !!!!!”

He posted his own birthday tribute to the Princess of Pop, writing, “I call you Lioness because I admire your relentless strength, I’m inspired by your beautiful heart, I celebrate your smile that lights up my world. Everyday is your birthday my queen. Happy 1st birthday to my wife #dec2nd @britneyspears.”

While Britney gets some much-needed R&R, many fans are planning to celebrate her birthday by listening to all of her top hits!

‘...Baby One More Time’

One of Britney’s most iconic songs is “…Baby One More Time” which was her debut single from her debut album of the same name. The single, written and composed by Max Martin, was first released all the way back on September 28, 1998!

Fans took the official music video in order to share their own birthday messages for the singer.

“Happy Britney Day you all!!,” one fan wrote. Our queen is FREE!!!!”

“And History was made,” said another. “The record execs must have been thinking... 'Can we get away with this?' ICONIC and utterly brilliant. Britney is a living legend and is going down as a great. Not simply a pop star of her generation, but as a true iconic in the hall of fame. And well deserved. Naturally.”

“This song could hit the airways 500 years from now and still be as fire as it was back in the day,” another wrote.

‘Oops!... I Did It Again’

The music video for “Oops!... I Did It Again” has been called one of the greatest music videos of all time. The song, off the singer's second studio album, was released on May 3, 2000.

“Can't believe that this song is more than 20 years old,” one fan wrote. “I am Britney's generation, back then every girl wanted to be like her. This still has the vibe, like it would be released yesterday not two decades ago!”

“I grew up listening to Britney's music and at the age of 32, I still have a great appreciation for it,” said another. “I am so happy that she is now free to take the reins of her own destiny. Britney, you are a legend!!!”

Another wrote, “It’s crazy how many people come back to this every day... this song is a masterpiece!”

‘Circus’

“Circus” is actually the sixth studio album released by the singer on November 28, 2008. Although the album produced hits like “Womanizer” and “Kill the Lights,” it’s the music video “Circus” that really got fans talking.

“For every kid who grew up in the 2000s, this is pure nostalgia,” one fan wrote.

“This is definitely Britney's best music video,” another fan shared. “So artistically made and she's GORGEOUS!!!”

“After her breakdown, Britney was still able to make the song that became one of the biggest comebacks in the music industry. #iconic,” wrote another.

Another commented, “I'm the only one going back to watch ALL her songs on YouTube? I didn't remember how much-needed that was. She is SO TALENTED.”

‘Till The World Ends’

Till The World Ends” and “I Wanna Go” became the most iconic songs to come out of Britney’s seventh studio album, “Femme Fatale,” released on March 25, 2011. It was her last album with Jive Records before the label shut down and she switched to RCA Records to release her eighth album, “Britney Jean” in 2013, and her ninth album, “Glory” in 2016.
