Travis Scott's'Astroworld' concert tragedy was NOT caused by an individual injecting random people with a needle, cops are now saying, despite confirming the story in the hours following the incident.

The Houston Police Department just held a press conference to update the media on their ongoing investigation -- and one of the subjects discussed was the claim that people were injected with an unknown substance, leading to the massive panic. Houston's Police Chief, Troy Finner, addressed reporters claiming it turned out to be "bad information."

As we reported, the department had previously confirmed that they received a report of one security guard who was allegedly pricked in his neck after trying to restrain a citizen inside the venue. At the time, the security guard was rendered unconscious and was given NARCAN to attempt to revive him. As you know, the drug is used in situations of a possible drug overdose, to counteract the effects of opiates.

According to one reporter inside the press conference, "Houston Police chief says they located the security guard who they initially heard was pricked in the neck — and he says no one injected him. He says he was punched - not injected. It was bad info chief says."

It's an interesting turn of events, considering the same Police Chief confirmed that not only had the security guard been treated by medical personnel for the needle prick, but described how the injury specifically looked like an injection site from a needle.

During the press conference, the Houston Police specified that it was the ultimate authority of the artist and the production company, on whether or not to end a concert. Obviously, this was in reaction to questions on why no one stopped the concert once people started being trampled. As you know, Travis Scott is specifically being targeted for not stopping the show, which might have saved multiple people's lives.

Also, questions were asked about the Police Chief's relationship with the rapper himself, after reports surfaced that the two were tight. According to the same reporter, working for New Nation Now, they have only met each other twice. He tweeted, "he has met Travis Scott twice. He says it wasn’t a special relationship. Chief says his department can fairly investigate."

It should be noted, Live Nation and Travis Scott are cooperating with authorities on the investigation, but have both been sued by victims and their families over the tragedy.

Interestingly, the press conference comes on the heels of new evidence being released of Houston Police officers shooting video on their cell phones --  of the concert -- a full 25 minutes after an emergency was declared. In other words, Scott's defense of not knowing the scale and gravity of the situation might be provable, considering officers working the event itself were unaware of the deaths.

The police department says it will continue to investigate, but stopped short of placing blame until it is fully finished.
