The 'Snyder's Cut Justice League' Turned Out to Be Monumental Success

"Justice League" was the 2017 follow-up to the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'' film and the fifth installment in the DC extended universe.

The film revolved around Batman and Wonder Woman's efforts to save the world from the villain Steppenwolf after the death of Superman.

However, due to personal issues, director Zack Snyder stepped down from the film and handed over post-production to Joss Whedon, who rewrote most of the plot and used much of his additional footage.

Many fans of Snyder and his work then began to clamor for a release of his original footage. According to many fan posts, Whedon failed to portray the characters and story of "Justice League" in the way they wanted to see.

Finally, on March 18, DC released "Justice League: Snyder Cut" on HBO Max. The film was a smash hit that outshined its predecessor and topped the charts.

Snyder's cut was very anticipated and hyped by fans of his work, DC fans, and many celebrities.

In its debut week on disc sale, it topped the charts and beat many big movies such as "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It" to claim the number one spot with a five-to-one ratio (a new record).

The boxed set of Snyder's DC trifecta- "Snyder Cut," "Man of Steel," and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" also ranked at number 14 in the top 20.

According to Comicbook, the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray of Snyder cut sales were responsible for 38% of its sales revenue, another 37% from standard Blu-ray sales, and 25% from sales of pure DVDs. It was such a popular movie that many online pre-orders arrived after the film had already been released.

In "Justice League: Snyder's Cut," the world was reeling from the death of Superman.

Determined not to let his death be in vain, Brice Wayne/Batman (played by Ben Affleck) teamed up with Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (played by Gal Gadot).

They found and recruited a team of superhumans to fill the gap left by Superman/Clark Kent (played by Henry Cavill) and protect the world from the incoming threat of Steppenwolf, Darkseid, and his parademon army.

However, it proved difficult for Batman and Wonder Woman, as each member of their superhuman team had to face and overcome the demons in their past that held them back. When they finally did, they found a way to use the mother-boxes to bring Superman from the dead.

Together, the newly formed Justice League stopped Steppenwolf, Darkseid, and DeSaad from taking over Earth.

The Snyder Cut version of "Justice League" represents the vision Snyder had for the film. As such, the differences between it and the first film are pretty significant.

For example, the change in aspect ratio; in his version, Snyder returned to his original choice of 1:33:1 for the film's aspect ratio.

The second and most obvious difference was the length. The removal of the two-hour limitation by HBO allowed Snyder to make the film an actual movie experience that lasted a total of four hours.

Snyder's cut also divided the four-hour-long film into chapters and an epilogue. A fade to a black screen marked each chapter and the presentation of a title card.

There were also significant changes made to the appearance of the villain Steppenwolf. Snyder returned to the original design of the villain, with his alien-like appearance and spiky armor. The villain's voice was also more modulated to give him a fiercer and more threatening aura and feeling.

The next few years are set to be very busy for DC. The network has many movies set for release, such as "The Batman," which stars Robert Pattinson and is scheduled for release in March 2022, "League of Super-Pets," which has a star-studded cast such as Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jameela Jamil, Keanu Reeves, and many more.

There is also "Black Adam," which will star Dwayne Johnson and is set for release in July 2022, the first solo film of "The Flash," which will feature Ben Affleck's last performance as Batman.

To round off the network's busy 2022, "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" will be released sometime in December.
