Cardi B is all about “WAP” — Weddings and Pride.
Wife And Wife
The Grammy-winning rapper proved it in the newest part of her Facebook Messenger series "Cardi Tries," that she really does try, where she served as the officiant of a "pop-up" lesbian wedding.
“By the power vested in me by the State of California and my online course, I now pronounce you wife and wife,” Cardi, who was pregnant at the time, exclaimed when brides Shannon Herbet and Brandi Taylor exchanged their vows with a kiss, the couple has been together since 2018.
Look At Cardi Really 'Trying'
The episode's internet release fell on National Coming Out Day, a celebration of people publicly revealing their sexual orientations and preferences, which takes place on Oct. 11.
Raven Symonè, 35, served as Taylor and Herbert's ring bearer and discussed the meaning of the celebration, which she co-hosted with Cardi.
“It’s National Coming Out Day which we all know is a layered journey for many people in the LGBTQ+ community,” said Symonè, who married wife Miranda Maday, 32, last June.
Love Is Love
“Being a part of a same-sex marriage is important so that people see that there’s differences [from heterosexual unions], obviously, but there are also similarities,” said Symonè.
The "That's So Raven" actress and Cardi aided Taylor, a Los Angeles mom and dance instructor, in planning the ceremony as a surprise for Herbert, a Little Rock, Arkansas-based lyrical content creator.
Under the guise of throwing their engagement party on the grounds, Taylor invited Herbert to the magnificent gardens of their outdoor wedding destination in California. Wow, isn't that absolutely wonderful!!
She then asked Herbert, the first woman she had ever dated, to marry her on the spot. After saying "yes," Herbert was whisked away to get glammed up before exchanging "I Do's."
Nostalgia And Reminiscing
Taylor was then taken by Cardi and Symonè to select her wedding reception décor as well as her bridal attire. However, being a part of the big day preparations made the "I Like It" singer cry over her less-than-opulent wedding to Offset.
"I want to get married again," Cardi grumbled as she and Symonè shopped for Taylor and Herbert's wedding attire. "But, it's not about me," she joked. Taylor's mother was "very friggin' upset" that she wasn't invited to her and Offset's modest wedding.
The "Up" star subsequently elevated her when she became tearful while wedding dress shopping. "My mother is not around today, either," Taylor sobbed. “She doesn't agree with my way of life... but she did write me a message wishing me well.”
Too Good To Be True
Herbert announced her and Taylor's relationship on Facebook on Friday.
“ Being able to say you got married by Cardi B when Raven-Symonè was the ring bearer is too good to be true and ,” she captioned a clip from their ceremony.
“Been holding this in for a while y’all, it’s official we are MARRIED.”
