Britney Spears' father is defending himself after the court ordered him removed from her conservatorship case, saying he did his best on a daily basis, to help his daughter who was suffering from mental illness.

Jamie Spears issued a statement to the media following the monumental decision in Britney's case, reminding everyone that he loves her "unconditionally" and worked very hard to revamp her career following a terrible time in her life.

"Mr. Spears loves his daughter Britney unconditionally. For thirteen years, he has tried to do what is in her best interests, whether as a conservator or her father. This started with agreeing to serve as her conservator when she voluntarily entered into the conservatorship. This included helping her revive her career and re-establish a relationship with her children. For anyone who has tried to help a family member dealing with mental health issues, they can appreciate the tremendous amount of daily worry and work this required," Jamie's attorney began.

She continued, "For Mr. Spears, this also meant biting his tongue and not responding to all the false, speculative, and unsubstantiated attacks on him by certain members of the public, media, or more recently, Britney’s own attorney."

Interestingly, Jamie's legal team reiterated that it was HIM who filed to remove the conservatorship case after Britney spoke out in open court -- something he says her own lawyers haven't done yet.

"These facts make the outcome of yesterday’s hearing all the more disappointing, and frankly, a loss for Britney. Respectfully, the court was wrong to suspend Mr. Spears, put a stranger in his place to manage Britney’s estate, and extend the very conservatorship that Britney begged the court to terminate earlier this summer. Again, it was Mr. Spears who took the initiative to file the petition to terminate the conservatorship when neither Britney’s former court-appointed counsel nor her new privately-retained attorney would do so. It was Mr. Spears who asked the court at yesterday’s hearing to immediately terminate the conservatorship while Britney’s own attorney argued against it," they continued.

Adding, "Despite the suspension, Mr. Spears will continue to look out for the best interests of his daughter and work in good faith towards a positive resolution of all matters.”

As we reported, Britney's father was suspended from being the conservator of her estate, following an explosive hearing in L.A. County Court. The pop star's lawyer blasted her father, claiming he is a reported alcoholic and gambling addict who "abused" his own daughter. Jamie has not responded to the allegations.

Following the hearing, Spears' lawyer promised the 'Toxic' singer would sue her father if their investigation reveals any issues with the handling of her finances. Also, Jamie was ordered to turn over all documentation for the estate to the new person in charge, who will pour through them looking for discrepancies.

In the end, Britney's team asked for a hearing in the next 30 days to formally end her conservatorship once and for all.

The parties will be back in court in November.
