Sam Smith is currently receiving heat for their new music video, “I’m Not Here To Make Friends.”
Smith released the music video for “INHTMF” on Friday to mixed reactions.
The controversial music video is said to represent joy and self-expression.
Some social media critics bashed Smith for “oversexualizing” the video.
Smith’s fans defended the pop star, calling out the homophobic and fatphobic criticsms.
Fans also pointed out that the video is barely sexual and is only getting bashed because Smith is a non-binary artist.
Smith recently revealed to Apple Music’s Zabe Lowe that they were spat at while in England for being non-binary.
They said they felt more comfortable being expressive in America.
Smith and Kim Petras earned a Grammy nomination for ‘Unholy.”
