Paul McCartney is paying tribute to Taylor Hawkins.

The Foo Fighters drummer passed away last Friday at age 50.

He is believed to have suffered a “cardiovascular collapse” as a result of drug use.

Paul McCartney said that “his personality was big and shiny.”

Taylor “will be sorely missed by all who were lucky to live and work alongside him,” he added.

McCartney played on one of the Foo Fighters tracks which “cemented” his relationship with Taylor.

McCartney inducted the band into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame late last year.

“All of which made it much more of a desperately sad shock to hear he had died,” he added.

He concluded, “You were a true Rock and Roll hero and will always remain in my heart.”
