Lil Nas X successfully released his debut studio album back in September.

The body of work contained bangers like “Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow.

However, despite its successful reception, the album peaked at No.2 coming behind Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy.”

Nas X opened up about the project not going No.1 in a recent interview with GQ Magazine.

The “Old Town Road” singer revealed that he felt like an “influencer” after the supposed defeat.

However, he didn’t stay in the funk for too long as he was overwhelmed with gratitude.

“I thought about was how blessed I am. About where I was three years ago. Nobody even thought that I would be here,” he said.

For Lil Nas X, competing with Drake for the No.1 was a big deal and a huge achievement.

According to the 22-year-old, he considered Drake as his idol.
