The ghastly accident happened while the actor was trying to help a family member whose vehicle was stuck in the snow.

Reports have revealed that he "nearly bled out" and "almost died" before help could arrive.

The accident caused him to suffer blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.

The actor has remained in intensive care after undergoing two surgeries.

Per reports, it could take Renner two years to regain his full strength.

Friends and colleagues have sent in get well wishes since the accident.

"Speedy recovery buddy. Sending love your way," Marvel co-star Chris Hemsworth wished Renner.
