Renner close call with death occurred on News Year's day while attempting to tow a vehicle that belonged to a stranded family member.

The said vehicle was stuck in the snow near his mansion close to Lake Tahoe, Nevada. A 14,330-pound snowplow plowed over the actor and utterly crushed him as they were taking the automobile out of the way.

After sustaining acute chest damage and orthopedic wounds, he was airlifted to a medical facility for urgent medical care. On January 2, he underwent chest surgery in addition to having metal pins put in his legs to stabilize the bones in his legs.

Despite surviving the frightening incident, the actor was still not entirely out of the danger zone and has stayed in the intensive care unit ever since.
