The estate for Prince does not own the domain for Prince.com and they are now suing the company that does to try and take control of it.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a company called Domain Capital reached out to the estate in May saying they owned “the domain name www.prince.com pursuant to a lease-back financing agreement with an undisclosed third party.”
The estate says Prince.com goes to a blank page and “is thus not being used for a bona fide commercial use.” They also claim that Domain Capital “has never used the domain name www.prince.com in connection with a bona fide offering or any goods or services.”
They claim Domain Capital is trying to hide the identity of the previous owner.
Prince’s estate is asking for a court order to transfer Prince.com over to them. They are also seeking unspecified damages.
